    Bobby Bowden
even at 76 years of age, it looks as though FSU football coach Bobby Bowden has no intention of leaving the game anytime soon. "I've been here 31 years... i ain't likely to leave," he recently said in an interview with the AP. "I still must win enough games... Now, how long will that be? I don't know, son. I don't know. but i have no desire to know that. the only thing that's funny to me is all them guys in the last 20 years that have been saying I was too old and I ain't going to be around but another year, they're all gone." How much longer can bowden still be an effective coach at such a high level ?

I'm really not sure he's been effective the last five years dan...I mean his teams are in the top 25 and all, but they're not the FSU teams of old anymore...

He certainly hasn't experienced the Joe Paterno swoon but Pags is right in that the fans in Tallahassee aren't cheering quite as loud as they used to when he is introduced at the stadium. The best thing for him is that in Florida you can find a good football player while your on your way to the grocery store to buy some milk.

exactly isetcap...also, his reluctance to replace his son with a good playcaller has hurt him as well...

You got to remember, the ACC is getting tougher to. With the addition of the Big East teams. Its no longer the Seminole conference anymore. Those other schools are getting the recruits that FSU had tied up in the past.

I think he will be fine, he just needs to adjust to the new ACC. Its not his conference anymore. I dont think teams fear the Noles like they did in the past.

the FSU recruiting hasn't been the best like in years past. thats probly partly due to bowden being 76 years old, and these players don't think he will still be around coaching 4 more years.

exactly dan...he's kind of out of it in his interviews...

yes, onlooker, the ACC is tough and that's why he's slowly starting to lose it...kid's would rather go play for Bob Stoops, Pete Carroll or Urban Meyer...guys that are in tune with things...
