                  BS Day guys

I called the T alves fight (look at my other threads )

Vera was stopped way early with 10 seconds of the round ( same ref that didnt stop the kimbo fight in the 2nd round )

Marquart got screwed he lost split decision , He lost the first round , Second round he won but there a illegal Knee to a grounded Guy costed him 1 point , so second round was even , the 3rd round Marquart landed better punches and takedowns Herb dean takes away a point for a shot to the side of the head ( that is legal but said it was back of the head Rogan said what a bad call) , T leites was all blooded up , I saw the 3rd round going to Marquart . This fight should have been a Marquart win or a draw ( dont know what the judges where thinking ) lost allot of cash on this fight BS

We went to a bar to watch the PPV...didn't want to waste the $40 on it. Overall, it was pretty boring. The Vera fight was a joke and it was clear that it was Brazilian day for UFC.

Matt Hughes needs to take his tractor riding, jesus loving ass back home and focus on home schooling his chilluns. Or fight Sera. No Sera fight, no return to UFC.

Antoni Hardonk (Pictures) vs. Eddie Sanchez
                      Round 1
Sanchez comes out aggressive and scores an early knockdown. Following a referee standup, Hardonk gets busy with knees from the clinch, which forces Sanchez to look for a takedown. He succeeds, but does little with the position. The round ends with another Sanchez takedown on the heels of another referee standup. 10-9 Sanchez.

                      Round 2
Hardonk picks up the pace in the second, landing a hard knee to the chin and a stiff series of blows to the body. Sanchez answers and knocks Hardonk to the canvas with a powerful right hand. With the fighters back on their feet, a wild exchange of punches plays out with both landing. Hardonk starts to get the better of the exchange as he pieces together a strong combination. Hardonk seals the deal with a left hook at the 4:15 mark of round two with a left hook that forces referee intervention.

Paul Taylor (Pictures) vs. Jess Liaudin (Pictures)
                      Round 1
The fighters trade blows in the center of the Octagon with neither gaining the upper hand early. Liaudin drops levels for a takedown and succeeds directly into side-control. Taylor escapes and gets to his feet, but the referee stands them up quickly after action slows. Liaudin lands a flying knee and Taylor answers with a punch that stuns the Frenchman and sends him to the canvas. Close round that goes 10-9 to Taylor on the Sherdog.com scorecard.

                      Round 2
The action slows a bit in the second as Liaudin scores an early takedown. Taylor separates and gets to his feet, where he is taken back down. He controls and strikes from the top for the duration of the round. 10-9 Liaudin.

                      Round 3
The fighters come out trading low kicks to kickoff the final frame. Taylor defends a takedown and is hit with a knee for his trouble. Liaudin scores a takedown but he can't hold Taylor down. Liaudin gets another takedown, but the referee stands them up shortly after. Liaudin pulls guard and gets the round on the Sherdog.com scorecard.

The official judges' scorecards are in and Taylor takes a split-decision with scores of 29-28 (twice) and 28-29 for Liaudin.

Luis Arthur Cane (Pictures) vs. Jason Lambert (Pictures)
                      Round 1
Lambert comes out clinching and Cane has none of it. Lambert does not want to trade but he chases Cane around the cage looking for a tieup. Cane unloads with a right hand and sends Lambert to the canvas. Lambert stands and is knocked down two more times before the referee steps in to save him at 2:07 of the first. Impressive win for Luis Arthur Cane.

Roan Carneiro (Pictures) vs. Kevin Burns
                      Round 1
The first round is all Roan as the Brazilian scores a quick takedown and doesn't look back. The entire round sees Carneiro in the top position on the ground, throwing punches. With 90 seconds remaining in the round, Carneiro advances to the mount but he loses the position after landing some punches. 10-9 for Carneiro.

                      Round 2
Burns stuffs a takedown attempt from Carneiro but he can't stop a second shot from the Brazilian. Carneiro punches from the top for several minutes and is caught in a triangle choke. Burns holds the head down and forces the BJJ black belt to tapout at 2:53 of the second frame. Very impressive submission for Burns.

Matt Wiman (Pictures) vs. Thiago Tavares (Pictures)
                      Round 1

                      Round 2
The second round starts much different from the first, with both fighters landing hard punches. The fight goes briefly to the floor courtesy of the Brazilian, but Wiman stands back up. Wiman then lands a stiff right hand that stuns Tavares. Another right hand puts Tavares out cold at 1:57 of the second round.

                      Round 1

Fabricio Werdum (Pictures) vs. Brandon Vera (Pictures)
                      Round 1
Vera starts with a snapping low kick before going to the clinch against the fencing. Werdum lands a right hand as the fighters get off the cage and move to the center of the Octagon. Werdum scores a takedown into his opponent's half-guard. Vera kicks Werdum off and gets to his feet. Vera lands a right hand that stuns Werdum. The Brazilian trips Vera to the canvas and takes the mount. Werdum strikes and Vera covers. Vera does nothing but cover up and referee Dan Miragliotta steps in to stop the bout at the 4:40 mark of the first. The stoppage was very questionable.

Nathan Marquardt (Pictures) vs. Thales Leites (Pictures)
                      Round 1
The fighters trade sloppy strikes through the first 90 seconds. A right hand from Leites drops Marquardt to the canvas. Leites mounts and transitions to Marquardt's back, but he gets back to guard. Leites moved to half-guard and side-control before Marquardt escaped to his feet. Two straight right hands to the midsection land for Nathan. Marquardt rocks Leties with an uppercut that backs him up to the fence.

Leites' eyes roll and a point is deducted for the knee. The fight continues and Marquardt gets a takedown. He busts up Leites'nose with a right hand and is warned for striking the back of the head. Marquardt turns it up and tees off with ground-and-pound. Leites is bleeding heavily from the nose and coughing from blood in his mouth. Referee Herb Dean stands the fighters up. Leites gets a quick takedown and moves to mount. Marquardt gets half-guard before the round expires.

Jordan Breen scores the round 9-9
TJ De Santis scores the round 9-9

                      Round 3
Marquardt catches a flying knee and takes Leites down. Marquardt elbows the side of the head and a point is deducted by Dean for a phantom strike to the back of the head. The shot landed on the side of the head near the ear. Marqaurdt gets a takedown once action resumes. Leites, from guard, elbows the top of the head and is warned by Dean. Leites looks for a Kimura but Nate has none of it. Marquardt picks Leites up and powerbombs him before the horn sounds.

Jordan Breen scores the round 9-9
TJ De Santis scores the round 9-9

The official judges see the bout 28-27 (twice) for Leites and 28-27 for Marquardt. Thales Leites takes the split-decision.

Marcus Davis (Pictures) vs. Mike Swick (Pictures)
                      Round 1
Swick whiffs on three head kicks in the first 30 seconds. Davis clinches with Swick against the cage and tries to throw his opponent to the canvas, but ends up giving up top position. Swick, on top in half-guard, tightly controls but is put back in guard after trying to advance to side-control. Swick pushes Davis' head into the fencing and hits the head with his left hand. Rights from Swick find their target. Elbows follow, which open up a cut above Davis's right eye near the nose.

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Swick
TJ De Santis scores the round 10-9 Swick
Mike Fridley scores the round 10-9 Swick

                      Round 2
Swick roughs Davis up with a right hand and trips him to the mat. From half-guard, Swick punched lazily and defended a Davis Kimura attempt. Now back on their feet, Davis lands a straight left on the kisser. Davis trips Swick to the canvas but gets caught in a triangle-choke that is defended easily. Swick stands and gets a takedown and side-control before the round ends.

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Davis
TJ De Santis scores the round 10-9 Swick
Mike Fridley scores the round 10-9 Swick

                      Round 3
Swick and Davis trade knees and punches through the first two minutes, with neither fighter gaining an advantage. From the Thai-plum, Swick grazed a knee off Davis' chin. Davis tries an inside-leg trip but Swick stuffs it and knees the body. Davis is cut and bleeding badly below his right eye now. The cut is severe. Mario Yamasaki deducts a point from Swick for holding the fence. Swick quickly gets a takedown into his opponent's guard. He punches and controls for the duration of the frame.

Jordan Breen scores the round 9-9 Swick
TJ De Santis scores the round 9-9 Swick
Mike Fridley scores the round 9-9 Swick

All three judges score the contest 29-27 for Mike Swick.

Michael Bisping (Pictures) vs. Jason Day (Pictures)
                      Round 1
Day lands a straight right after both fighters narrowly miss in the first 60 seconds. Bisping goes to the clinch and trips Day to the floor. He stands over his opponent and bombs away with lefts and rights. Day covers and somehow survives when Bisping moved to side-control. Day stood to his feet and was taken back down by a great double-leg from Bisping. The Brit slugger launched a torrent of punches that force referee Dan Miragliotta to step in at 3:42 of the first.

Matt Hughes (Pictures) vs. Thiago Alves (Pictures)
                      Round 1
Alves easily stuffs a long-range single-leg from Hughes. He easily defends another and ends up on top after Hughes pulls guard. Hughes looked for an armbar from the bottom and ate a hard left hand. Alves stands and knees Hughes in the midsection. He shrugs it off and scores his first takedown of the fight. Hughes controls from the top but he struggles to mount any offense save for some elbows to the thigh from side-control. Alves gets butterfly guard but Hughes passes to half-guard. Alves gets back to his feet and is pulled into Hughes' guard.

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Alves
TJ De Santis scores the round 10-9 Alves
Mike Fridley scores the round 10-9 Alves

                      Round 2
Hughes gets hit with a huge knee as he shoots in at the sound of the bell. The knee opens up a large cut near Hughes' right eye. Alves explodes into a flying knee that grazes a falling Hughes. Alves pounces with punches until referee Herb Dean pulls off the Brazilian at 1:02 of the second. Replays show that Hughes' knee was injured after getting hit with the flying strike.

                          Nice writeup, Joe.

The Bisping fight was a joke, too. There was no way that he was going to lose that...not in his home town...and not when UFC is trying to make it big in other countries. People should have put a lot of money on that fight.

Hammil is the deaf guy, right?

Yep...I have said the same thing. Sure, there are a lot of upsets, but every now and then, it seems pretty certain that the fix is in. Like the Kimbo Slice fight with Elitexc. They had way too much money invested in him to allow him to lose. I will even go so far to suggest that they injected Thompson's ear with something so that it could pop and they could call the fight.

Bisping looks so different at 185. I thought it was a English skin head coming to the ring. I like the guy, but he looked so different.

I wasn't going to watch the fight, but a friend of mine like Hughes, so he purchased it and I watched. Overall, I wasn't too impressed with the card. Good thing they have a good draw for 86, or I could see the UFC start to slip.

Yesterdays card was SUPPOSED to be good but the injuries (and Leben was throwin in jail) prevented a lot of good fighters from attending.

Yeah Hammil is the deaf guy . Yeah Leben vs Bisping was going to be a great fight canceled . UFC 85 was a cursed card.

Marico Shogun Rua was on the card ( Knee injury , had to pull out )
Chuck Liddell ( had to pull out injury )
Rashad Evans ( took off the card )
Chris Leben ( turned him self in to jail ,couldnt fight )
James Irvin ( took of the card injury )

I still don't understand why Evans wasn't able to fight. Are they trying to say that they couldn't find a suitable match-up for him?

Rashad was already training and wanted to fight .But the UFC didnt have anyone at this time they could setup for rashad at 205lb that was worth to fight him ( since if he wins a few fights might get a title shot ) not a big fan of his was really hoping to see Liddell KO Evans.
