Stallone Makes Boxing Hall Of Fame

Sylvester Stallone, the man who gave us one of the most legendary underdog characters in movie history, is going to the hall of fame.

    The Boxing Hall of Fame.

We know Stallone as "Rocky Balboa," the Philadelphia southpaw who rose from the streets as a bookie collector to a world champion boxer. We also know Stallone as the guy who continues to make action movies at age 64.
But let's not forget that "Rocky," released in 1976, earned 10 Academy Award nominations and won the Oscar for best picture, best director and best film editing.

This isn't the first non-movie award Stallone has received from the boxing world. In 2006, he was awarded the Boxing Writers Association of America award for “Lifetime Cinematic Achievement in Boxing.”

Of course, none of this excuses him for the fourth "Rambo" movie or "Oscar."

By the way, Mike Tyson and Julio Cesar Chavez were among the actual boxers named to the hall of fame. The induction ceremony is June 12, 2011, in Canastota, N.Y.
