Mindless Takedown-Counting (aka. "judging") ruining UFC as a bettable sport
two thus far tonight to add to the list: Watson and Makdessi screwed

reminded me of Phil Davis over Machida "decision" where judges had it dreadfully wrong...

feel free to post your additions to the judging hall of shame

i'm not talking about debatable split decisions...talking about getting it outright wrong

Actually mindless takedown counting is preserving the UFC as a bettable sport. Giving me almost 3:1 on a hometown wrestler to win a decision versus a striker with crappy TDD? Yes please...

i had watson clearly winning 30-27.

makdessi did not dominate that fight. rogan was deluded.

I thought they both sucked. Neither IMO deserved to win that fight.

I'm a bit confused by your reasoning here. Watson outstruck Catone to a lesser degree than Makdessi outstruck Patrick, and Catone had quite a bit of top control time, while Patrick had almost none.

The reason that Patrick won was because the judges awarded him points in exchanges for missing with strikes. He was badly outstruck, and didn't really have any success with his grappling at all, Makdessi clearly and easily outlanded him. Rushing forward, missing with three strikes, and eating a hard jab shouldn't win you a round.

Gotta love the Ricardo Almeida fawning last night. Right before he lent a hand to the early ROTY candidate.

Yah but that Phil Davis decision made me some coin.

                Wraslters rule.

What drives me even more insane is the inconsistency.

I was laying heavy coin on Watson during the fight -> SCREWED. Next -- I lay coin on Martinez (since he got several takedowns and had more top control) -- WRONG. Then I go back the other way on Makdessi and get screwed again. It was down 21 units by that point. Fortunately my "luck" turned around after.

Yeah, did the exact same thing. Of course the judges change for every fight. Someone less lazy than me would track judges for each fight and adjust accordingly.

I do, but it can be difficult to find judging assignments at times. I have profiles on quite a few judges.
