Roxanne Modafferi 'depressed' by fan reaction to her UFC debut
MMA veteran Roxanne Modafferi was thrilled to make her UFC debut at the Ultimate Fighter 18 Finale but depressed when she saw the fan reaction online.
Roxanne Modafferi, a ten-year veteran of professional MMA, made her UFC debut on Saturday. She lost a unanimous decision to Raquel Pennington but was happy with her performance...then she saw the fans' reaction online. Here's what Roxy posted on the UG:It was an honor to fight in the UFC last night- the ultimate stage that every fighter is aspiring to.
I had three goals last night in the UFC:
1) do the techniques my coach John Wood taught me and perform well;
2) prove that I belong in the UFC, and
3) win the fight.
If I do the first two, the third would come naturally.
I met the first goal! I didn't meet the third goal. Last night I thought I met the second goal. Someone I respected last night said, "You belong here!" I was so happy I started to cry. But then I read the Underground Forums, fans negative opinions, and now I'm depressed. :** Even my UG brothers who usually support me don't think I belong. They say that my stand up was the worst they've ever seen in the UFC. Oh, man. :**
Well, Mike Pyle, a coach at my gym, said it best to be at our dinner last night: All that matters is what Roxy feels and what Roxy thinks. And take things away from the fight and build on it to make myself better. That's the bottom line. John said he was pleased with my progress. *I* think that my stand up was the best it's ever been in MY career. Am I a super-awesome striker? No, definitely not. But when I was in there, I could feel my technique coming together. I could see and feel her reactions and movement like never before. I actually think I did worse when I went for the take-downs. I should have done a few things differently.
It bothers me a lot when websites are like, "This is Roxanne's sixth loss in a row!!" IT'S NOT, man, because I won my fight to get into the house. It doesn't go on paper, since it's TUF. But my mind is not on a 6 fight losing streak. This was my 28th fight. I'm on a two-fight losing streak, damnit! There's a difference!

Roxanne looked kind of rough in her debut. She has fought a lot of named opponents though.

Comes off with this crazy spoiled bitchy tude on the show.. She's got a thick mid section that reminds me of a dude.. She always has that bitchy pissed off look on her face too which I just want to slap right off.. That's alot to hate right? Mesha the polar opposite.. Hmmm?
Then I think Chael Sonnen and Tito Ortiz built that same bad boy media image to stardum and serious future PAY DAYS and recognition in the UFC.. That bad boy image pumped up the UFC ratings as the general public gravitates to that crap.. Hense WWE growth.... So with that being said - Is Rhoda pulling off this "I am a bitch attitude" just for promotional purposes or is that the real her?
Honestly I don't know as I'm still just trying to figure out if she is Lesbo or not?.. She has all the characteristics of a Dike that's for sure..
Anyways, Rhonda is a one trick pony with the arm bar subs.. She's mastered grabbing onto the mma gloves and lock it up in a hurry when the opportunity presents itself.. Good with the Judo throws and strong in the clinch.. Mesha will be tapping out again for sure!!!
Gotta hand it to the monopoly of MMA - UFC Zuffa and it's clever marketing. Tito was the bad boy with the young and growing UFC years ago.. Is Tito and Chael really total dicks today? Rhonda and womens MMA is new and young in the UFC so it's a tough call...
Anyways the first good stand up female fighter too face Rhonda with really good anti JUDO, CLINCH and TAKEDOWN defense beats her STANDING and maybe even ruins her face.. It will come give it time..
