Sugar" Rashad Evans can beat Griffin
Mixed martial arts is not a slug fest fight and all out brawl like most people think. It is a very controlled and strategic sport. To be a great fighter it takes discipline, planning and execution. For that reason Rashad Evan will be the new UFC 205 pond Light Heavyweight champion.

Evans is better coached and has great wrestling. Girffin has never fought a good wreslter before

I have no problem with your pick but like I said in your other thread, terrible reasoning. Is this really how you're coming to your conclusion?

Aren't these traits of Griffin? I like Griffin, don't get me wrong, but he isn't all that skilled and doesn't have power. He isn't flashy, he just does what he needs to.

I still think Evans wins, but that's because he is an all-around better fighter. Not because he uses "discipline, planning, and execution."

Well said Hoff exactly what I was thinking. I think the best way to describe Forrest is a jack of all trades and master of none. But once again, like you said, I see him doing what he needs to and pull out the victory.

Greg Jackson has a game plan for his fighters which they carry out

Look at Evans versus Liddell he waited until the right moment to strike because Jackson told him to

Look at the way Evan positions himself when he strikes, the way he moves in and out. He is conscious of that and times his fighting

          Unlike Forrest

I have never beena fan of Evans but he has the right mind set to win

          Anyone here train BTW?

            I can do this too…

Randy Couture is one of the best game planners in MMA.

Look at Forrest’s fight with Rampage. He used an array of strikes while staying on the outside because that was the game plan Randy and Xtreme Couture came up with.

Look at Forrest’s striking. He throws straight punches and varies his strikes and timing. He consistently throws more than two strikes at a time and doesn’t throw wide looping punches.

            Unlike Rashad.

I’m not a fan of either fighter but I don’t think that Rashad has what it takes to win.

            And I train.

Look, I have no problem with you picking Rashad to win; I initially chose him to win too. Most of your logic however is terrible. I’m assuming that you’re still talking about Rashad’s fight with Liddell when commenting on his positioning when he strikes but what about it? In the first round, he’s constantly backpedaling while occasionally pawing out a jab or feinting a shot. In the second round, the majority of shots he lands are because Liddell is coming right at him and Rashad has his timing down. I think there were one or two punches where Rashad had to step in out of necessity to hit Chuck. The way you make it sound, Rashad is sticking and moving and is too elusive. Timing, like you said, along with speed and athleticism is why Rashad lands, not his positioning.

And what insight is the Jardine fight really going to bring? Not only was Jardine was getting picked apart until the final minute of that fight but Forrest’s standup is much improved since then. Also, Jardine is a much better striker than Rashad is.

This one is a Tough one to Call, I like Forrest ( even though i still think Rampage won or a draw last fight), Huge wins over Shogun and Jackson.Yeah Jardine beat Forrest, but Forrest has got out of that Brawling style and like Govenor said Jardine is a way better striker.

Rashad has not impressed me, Yes he Beat Salmon with the highlight kick(Salmon was pretty much a pure wrestler and has been KO many times fights at 185lb now), A pretty good performance agaist Jason Lambert who is a very streaky fighter. He beat Bisping bye split decision(bisping fights at 185 lb now ) A fight with Tito Ortiz was a draw and was not impressed and Tito would of won if he didnt get a point deducted for grabing the fence.Yes he KO Liddell, and yes a good gameplan bye Jackson.

Randy will have Forrest ready and will keep his distance and land puches and kicks like the Rampage fight, and stuff the takedowns, Isee the this going the Distance.Forrest wins bye Dec if he keeps is standing most of the fight, Evans wins if he gets the takedowns everyround. I dont see him trying to stand the whole time like liddell. But i see it hard to get Forrest down He is a huge 205lb he walks around at 230-240lb and cuts, while Evans is small 205lb walks around at 210-220lb.He was gassed big time in the Bisping fight and Ortiz in the 3rd rnd and this fight is scheaduled for 5rnds not good for Evans.

It's getting testy in here. Should be an all out brawl by fight night.

Wow way to pat yourself on the back, this fight happens again i'd take Griffen to win. He won the 1st 2 rounds, and for whatever reason put up the shittiest gaurd and let Rashad finish him while in gaurd. The way thatround ends up more times then not is Evans staying on top of Griffin and doing minimal damage. with that round Evans would have to sweep the last 2 to win the fight and i'd see Forrest wining at least one of those 2 in the same way he won rounds one and two.
