#10748I bought some silver with bitcoin years ago when it was around $2500ish and kick myself whenever I think about it as these 1oz silver coins ended up costing me a fortune! I can see the same thing happening with a burger, fries and drink costing you hundreds 5-10 years from now.Comment -

That's always going to be the deal, I think. If BTC goes to $150K, I would seriously consider cashing out 2 BTC ($300K) and buying a new house. Pay cash, full price. You can get a nice little brand new 3 bedroom house in a nice neighborhood for about $250K where I live. (The leftover $50K will go to Uncle Sam). OTOH, if BTC eventually goes to $1M per coin, that means I paid $2M for a nice little 3 bedroom house. Ouch. The other way to look at it is that perhaps I originally I bought the BTC for $5K/coin so the house really only cost me $10K.
It's kind of a forever dilemma.

Arky, I have had enough to pay off my mortgage for years now but my rationale not to has always been that I think I can make more in investments than the mortgage interest rate(2.85%). It has worked out but the older I get and the more I think about it, maybe there are other factors to consider other than just the numbers? Peace of mind, not owing anyone a dime and ridding myself of any monthly payments sounds pretty damn good the more I think about it. I'd have to sell around 30% of my crypto to squash my mortgage and have been seriously considering the past few months.
But I do see your point. Selling off for something tangible is reasonable. Does make sense to split your risk, things don't go up forever.Where's the fuckin power box, Carol?Comment -

I'm all for decentralizing one's life. Get rid of all debt if possible (house/auto). Toss the credit cards. Use crypto, cash, check or debit card. IMO, banks are a necessary evil to function in today's life. I keep as little as possible in the bank. Be your own bank.
Not ready to live out in the boonies and live on solar, grow my own food, have chickens and a couple of cows but a younger me might have considered it. Younger me was too busy partying.

Looks like BTC wicked up to $110K+......

#10758Trump news on cryptoThe Trump Media & Technology Group, tied to Donald Trump, announced plans to raise about $3 billion to invest in cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin, according to reports from Reuters and the Financial Times. This includes a $2.5 billion deal to buy Bitcoin, with funds coming from stock sales and convertible notes. There’s also World Liberty Financial, a Trump family crypto venture, which raised over half a billion and got a $2 billion investment from an Emirati firm for a stablecoin called USD1, aimed at investing in Binance. The moves have stirred controversy, with some calling it a conflict of interest and others seeing it as part of Trump’s push to make the U.S. a crypto hub.Comment -

It was such a blatantly obvious ridiculous fraud/game setup from day one that I don't think people should be rewarded for taking huge risks in an attempt to profit from other people being ripped off, when that obviously stupid scheme collapses.
My reaction in here when someone tried to pump it was to immediately say DO NOT promote this obvious scam in here. How often have I said that over the years? Rarely. Showing how obvious this stupid scheme was.

I think any "investor" trying to sue anybody claiming they were misled about Safemoon needs to be punished too. For wanting to have their cake and eat it too.
