I figured out how to get my bitcoin into GDAX but it’s impossible to get the funds from GDAX to a book.

Correct. (Assuming you mean to send a crypto like BTC) Login to GDAX using your Coinbase credentials, under BTC/USD, click deposit and select from Coinbase and enter the amount. Then click withdraw and it should have a tab to an external wallet. Enter the amount and the wallet address and transfer.
If you're trying to buy crypto from GDAX, do everything above to deposit except with USD, then go ahead and do a market order or limit order.
Everyone should be using GDAX. I wasted a lot in fees until I learned this.

You first buy them on Coinbase with your credit card, then login to GDAX using your Coinbase credentials and follow the instructions posted earlier.

You don't HAVE to, but you're opening up the risk of your Coinbase/GDAX account getting shut down if they detect you're sending/receiving funds for gambling (and it has happened). That's why people use Blockchain as an intermediary since CB is sending/receiving from a private wallet which masks the transactions.
I'm done with coinbase. Fees are outrageous. They charge you to buy it, to send it, to receive it, and to sell it. GDAX can't verify my identity for some strange reason. Don't know why, I've lived in one area all my days. Gosh how I miss the pre 2007 era where you could send and receive through netteller for free and get all the payouts you wanted. You could even get a small payout for like $20 for free. yes, I sure miss those days.

I have. Getting verified to withdraw took longer than expected and the first few transactions took a long time (over a day sometimes). Lately they've been 90 minutes or less so I have few complaints with them now.

Until they put in Segwit, it's going to be expensive using them. I finally got a Ledger Nano S, which supports Segwit and haven't had much of an issue sending through them as long as I customize the fee. They overestimate the fee if you go with standard, but looking up the fees I can pay much less.
