Just signed up and bought Bitcoin at Coinbase. it says it's going to take 9 days for me to get my Bitcoin in my e wallet. is this the norm?

There is a delay for the first transaction but once you have your bank linked and are verified you can buy instantly.

9 days sounds like a long time though.

Well, it's actually down to 6 now. Thanks for the info, I was starting to wonder if the wait was worth it but if this is a one time thing, then I'm all good with it.

At Coinbase the instant Buy (After your first transaction) only works with a charge card.
If you do a Buy via ACH (Bank transfer), it would still take them about 3-5 business days to release your coins...regardless whether it's your first..second or tenth transaction.

BitPay is a nice way to go if you want to use ATMs. Get a BitPay.com debit card. It will work at most conventional ATMs.

If the BitPay card is available to UK residents (?) then you can load it from any bitcoin wallet. So yes, can be funded from a blockchain.info/wallet
