Favs horses only win 33% so why not lay the fav??

a basic statistical fact about horse racing. Favorites, on average, win 33.3 percent of the time. SO if one has a large ban account just lay favs that you think do not have value??

now tell me gents where I am wrong as I know it can not be that easy??

I've been laying favourites on betfair with success this season. Sometimes the odds are astronomical but if you pick your spots definitely a good system.
