Apparently Lopez is about ready to go home. Blew an early break in the 1st set and then had four chances to break Thiem in the 1st game back from the delay and blew all of them. Now broken early in the 2nd. Maybe it'll be a reverse for Thiem, go up 2-0 and then blow it ... but Lopez doesn't see to have it or care to find it right now.

I don't think Federer would have been glad to see Ferrer or Simon honestly. Both make you work hard. He may have great results vs. Ferrer, but a straight sets match against him is more taxing some times than a 4-5 setter against say a John Isner where you don't have any sort of rallies to engage in.

Simon when on his game is a tough match-up for anything less than a B+ or A level Federer. He'll force him to work rallies and make shots. In the past when Federer was not playing well, that was a big problem and lead to many errors.

ferrer could keep fed on the court a lot longer than a simon would. the goal of the top guys at this point is to minimize time on the court so they have gas in the tank for the later rounds with the tougher opponents
