amazing h2h record...berdy beat nadal 3 times in a row, the 2nd, 3rd and 4th times they met...in 2005/06...

nadal's beat him 17 straight times since then, making 18-3 overall...

and, get this...berdy has only won 3 sets over their last 17 meetings

nadal's armor starting to crack somewhat recently, but an absolutely amazing record of dominance over someone who's been within shouting range rankings-wise the whole time

Over the past 4-5 years, there have been the 3-5 top dogs and the wannabes like Berdych, Tsonga, Ferrer (although he has been good on clay), Wawrinka (pre AO). The gap between them is wider than between the ~10th and ~70th ranked players. Berdych is probably the ultimate wannabe: he has a decent game but as mentally fragile as the worst WTA player on PMS. Anyway, betting on him vs Nadal@Madrid on clay is madness.

you're right...the gap between the big 3 (Nadal/Joker/Federer).and whoever is the #10 player is effectively miles bigger than that between the #10 player and #70...

case in point....you're right to "honorable mention" Ferrer as arguably the 4th best player over these years...BUT look at his h2h vs the big 3 to see your point in technicolor...Nadal/Joker/Federer have truly been "in a league of their own"
