Central Coast Mariners started their five-game home stand with a win and have their sights firmly on the top two. Adelaide United fresh from a shock last minute loss against the Heart followed up with a high-scoring loss in the shootout of the west. The Reds have temporarily lost their composure and will get no favours from the Mariners who now have Patricio Perez as a wildcard in the run in to the finals. Their defence continues to impress and gives them a great platform for success. Adelaide will be questioning themselves on the long trip across the country and in the end the home advantage may prove the difference.

The south Queensland derby is a fixture that both teams and the football public have been looking forward to for some time. Brisbane Roar have been setting the league on fire all season and are edging closer to the clubs first ever piece of silverware. Gold Coast United have gone about their business without the fanfare of last season but have still managed to put themselves in a position to challenge. United will be fresh after their false start last weekend in the wet and having never lost to the Roar will be confident of a win to continue to challenge for a top-two spot. The Roar have passed every test to date and with the memory of last years 5-1 thrashing as extra motivation should prove too good at home.
