Basketball Parlay of the Day - Tuesday, 3/20/07

SBR will give the winner of the March Basketball Parlay of the Day Contest a sparkling new 19-inch LCD DVI Monitor! For those of you unfamiliar with the contest, here are the rules:


Post your 2 best basketball plays each day, NBA and CBB full-game Sides & Totals allowed only, no halves. Same game Side/Total parlays are ok. You have until five minutes before tip time of your first game to post the selections. Also note that all plays will now be graded against a uniform line! I will post the lines from Pinnacle at approximately 11 AM ET each day. Those of you wishing to make selections before then may do so without posting your lines, and they will be graded against my posted lines.

All parlays will be graded as 10.00 to win 26.00, and I will keep two sets of standings: the Official Standings will be based on parlay units won/lost, and the secondary standings will be on a game-by-game basis ranked by winning percentage.

The Catch: You must have SOME ANALYSIS for each play. Only needs to be one sentence, no big deal, although full paragraphs are ok too. Plays submitted with no analysis will NOT COUNT toward standings.

The player with the most units won after the games of March 31 will win the winner-take-all grand prize. Note that you must play at least 15 days (30 plays) during the month to qualify for the prize! In case of a tie in units, the tiebreaker will be the better winning percentage. If still tied, the contest will be extended with the tied players making one parlay selection per day at the start of April until the tie is broken. NO PASSES will be allowed during this extension period, and any of the tied players doing so will be eliminated regardless of the other player(s) results for that day.

Tie breakers:
Will be decided by win % of individual parlay legs. 2nd tiebreaker is based on additional daily parlays until one person breaks tie.

15 parlays must be made in the month.

All decisions made by SBR with regards to this contest are final.

SBR will pick a DVI LCD monitor that is features on this page when winner is decided.

Based on overlay and expected intensity.

It's been two months since PHX covered a DD spread. They're bored, have the number 2 spot as good as locked up, and can hardly wait for the playoffs. Oh, and they're out of sync.

Houston -10 Ton of chalk but Houston playing good ball and Indiana is a terrible team right now. I know they pounded Atlanta but I'll take Houston at home. IND 2-8-2 ATS in their last 12.

Chicago -7.5 Again a lot of chalk but Chicago got pounded in LA earlier this season. Expect a bit of a payback and more intensity out of Chicago. The Clippers are terrible on the road and 6-21 ATS as an underdog.

Indiana Pacers + 11 - Houston home after road trip and huge blowout of Philly, teams usually don't do well in 1st game home after long trip. Pacers off win, and fighting for playoff lives, they keep it close

Golden State + 8 - Same scenario, although Utah off 4 straight losses, GS keeps it close enough

The Pacers are coming off 2 days rest and they're 11-3 ATS in this scenario.

I've been riding the NC State bandwagon through the ACC tourny and into the NIT and I'm not getting off until I'm thrown off. The pack gets revenge for a regular season loss in morgantown and wins straight up tonight.

NJ Nets +1: Team has more to play for, and will outmatch Denver's energy at home tonight.

Phoenix Suns -12: Two words: Minnesota Timberwolves

Dal/NY over 191 - Knicks playing looser against Western Conference teams this season.

Phil/Det over 182 - 76ers catching Detroit in the middle of tough competition, expecting less defensive intensity from Detroit.

Miss State -5
Bulldogs are 11-2 ATS at home.

Wash@Portland UNDER 200
Trail Blazers will be without Zack Randolph, so even if the Wiz put up close to 100 or more, I can see Portland struggling to get into the 80s. Portland also held the Wiz to just 73 pts in their last match-up.

Cleveland: 8-0 ATS in March
Charlotte: 11-23 ATS as an underdog of 3.5 to 9.5 points

Phoenix Suns -12
Minnesota: 2-13 ATS L15 games
Phoenix: 22-10 ATS off a road loss

MINN/PHO Under210.5
Just don't see MINN putting up close to 100....only avg 91.6 last 5, & PHO slowing down some only avg 105.2 last 5 & probably not real motivated for a fast pace so calling for an Under here.....hopefully.

LAC+8
Just took the NETS to the wire & playing fairly well. Also have smoked CHI last two meets by 12 @Hm & by 11 @CHI.

Memphis -1 - Norl is on a 4th game in 5 days, and Chris Paul is playing with pain. Memphis has Pau Gasol back, and will be motivated to win 2 in a row tonight to show that they are professionals.

LAC/Chi over 185.5 - This number is a little low because Chicago has been playing lax lately, but their recent loss should increase their intensity for this game, and they should get over 100 tonight, leaving the modest total relatively beatable.
