Default Basketball Parlay of the Day - Wednesday, 3/7/07

SBR will give the winner of the March Basketball Parlay of the Day Contest a sparkling new 19-inch LCD DVI Monitor! Keep in mind guys that I WANT to win this thing myself, so you all better bring your "A" games to beat me!!

For those of you unfamiliar with the contest, here are the rules:

Post your 2 best basketball plays each day, NBA and CBB full-game Sides & Totals allowed only, no halves. Same game Side/Total parlays are ok. You have until five minutes before tip time of your first game to post the selections. Also note that all plays will now be graded against a uniform line! I will post the lines from Pinnacle at approximately 11 AM ET each day. Those of you wishing to make selections before then may do so without posting your lines, and they will be graded against my posted lines.

All parlays will be graded as 10.00 to win 26.00, and I will keep two sets of standings: the Official Standings will be based on parlay units won/lost, and the secondary standings will be on a game-by-game basis ranked by winning percentage.

The Catch: You must have SOME ANALYSIS for each play. Only needs to be one sentence, no big deal, although full paragraphs are ok too. Plays submitted with no analysis will NOT COUNT toward standings.

The player with the most units won after the games of March 31 will win the winner-take-all grand prize. Note that you must play at least 15 days (30 plays) during the month to qualify for the prize! In case of a tie in units, the tiebreaker will be the better winning percentage. If still tied, the contest will be extended with the tied players making one parlay selection per day at the start of April until the tie is broken. NO PASSES will be allowed during this extension period, and any of the tied players doing so will be eliminated regardless of the other player(s) results for that day.

Good Luck to All (but not too much...I need a new monitor!)

Fine Print:

1 entry per household and IP address.

Must use lines posted in daily thread by LT Profits

Tie breakers:
Will be decided by win % of individual parlay legs. 2nd tiebreaker is based on additional daily parlays until one person breaks tie.

15 parlays must be made in the month.

All decisions made by SBR with regards to this contest are final.

SBR will pick a DVI LCD monitor that is features on this page when winner is decided.

Rice +4

Evenly matched teams. Like the 4 point spread. Rice has a better offensive FG%,3pt%,FT% and have done better versus conference then UTEP..

Depaul +4.5
Nova is overrated, everyone seems to believe they are better than what they are. Depaul has done just as good vs conf and have defeated solid teams.. Depaul can definitely win this game love getting the 4.5

St. Joseph's -2.5: The fact this is a rivalry game is the only factor keeping this line from being the 6-7 points it should be. St. Joe's is a far superior team. The Hawks have won 10 of the last 11 straight up in this series and have too much size inside for Temple to handle.

Bulls/Heat Under 184.5: Unless Ben Gordon is on fire from outside, as he was Sunday against the Bucks, this Chicago team has a difficult time putting up points, as they have absolutely no low-post scoring threat. I'll take my chances that Gordon won't repeat his 48 pt. outburst against a Heat team that can still defend very well and should be motivated (even Shaq) against one of the better Eastern Conference teams. Miami also isn't likely to light up the scoreboard, and they will be playing this one without Jason Kapono, who was the team's second scoring option without Wade in the lineup. I don't think either team reaches 90 in this one.

76ers -3
Philly has been playing well at home lately and the Sonics are fresh off a game last night in NY... The Sonics may have gotten a road win last night, but could they make it two in a row? DOUBTFUL! Think the fresher Sixers cover the small margin against a tired Sonics team...

Ohio -7.5
The Bobcats fresh off a bad loss @ the hands of Buffalo will be ready to go today... They have beaten Bowling Green twice already this season by 18 and then by an astounding 25 on BG's home court... The Falcons won't pose a threat here for the Bobcats who win by double figures...

OHIO-contest line
Already with big wins by 25 @BG, 18 & 37 last two @Hm, OHIO owns BG. BG is 1-7 ATS revenging a blowout loss of 20+, 0-2 ATS off win vs conf. rival, & 0-3 ATS in conf. tourney games last 3 seasons as well as 1-8 ATS in March games last 3 seasons. OHIO is 2-0 ATS in neutral court games where posted total is 140-144.5 & 8-3 ATS in all neutral court games last 3 seasons. Maybe not another blowout by 25 but a win by at least a decade is on the horizon.

SYR-contest line
SYR a perfect 7-0 ATS in conf. tourney games last 3 seasons. UCONN is 0-8 ATS as a dog, 2-8 ATS on the road, 2-9 ATS on neutral court last 3 seasons, 1-4 ATS after scoring 60 or less, 0-3 ATS after 3+ consecutive losses & 0-6 since '97, 0-3 ATS in conf. tourey games last 3 seasons, & 3-10 ATS vs team w/winning record after 15+ games.
SYR also avg 7-8 more pts per game last 5 & in conf. Orangemen today no problem!

Marquette -6.5
Syracuse -3.5

Well sorry guess im kicked out already i have nothing to say cause i use a system of things such as last 3 games conf. games away/home type stuff

But Syracuse is a strong home team playing against a horrible away team. Syracuse should crush them.

As for Marquette They not only average more points forced they also allow few points from thier opponent

Cuse -3 - I can't resist at this #. UCONN is 0'fer as a dog and Syracuse plays very well at MSG. They'll get the W or two they need for their resume.

Arizona St +6 - Any opportunity you get to grab this many points from Washington out of their own arena you've got to take it. That win vs UCLA has everybody back on them again but it wouldn't surprise me to see a SU loss.

Default

76ers -3
I think this is a good situational fade of the Sonics, off their heart stopping win in New York. I find it hard to believe they will be able to win consecutive road games, especially since the Sixers have been laying in wait for them.

Ohio -7
Something may be fishy here, but having seen Ohio play and having seen Bowling Green play, it doesn't come as any surprise that Ohio has blown them out twice this season. The adage, "It's hard to beat a team three times in one season" only applies when the first two games are somewhat competitive.

Utah -10 and Ind/Utah over 198 - Indiana has been totally lost for the last month. They are on their first road trip since the bg trade with GS in January, and they are showing no signs of being a cohesive unit yet. They were fortunate that a scheduling fluke had them playing 14 of the first 17 games after the trade at home, which helped hide just how disorganized they really are.

Indiana has beaten the Jazz in Utah the last 4 years, right in front of the eyes of their adoring fans, and I'm pretty sure Utah won't be shy about pouring it on at the end if they get the chance to do so on their home court this time around.

Utah Jazz -10: Two teams moving in opposite directions, don't expect the Pacers to put up much of a fight after coming up short in last night's comeback attempt.

Detroit Pistons -5.5: Historically, the Pistons shut Lebron down whenever these two teams meet, I expect no different tonight. Detroit is also coming off an embarassing 25 pt loss to Golden state, look for them to be motivated.

Ohio -7 Beat BG by 25 and 18 already this year. They are bigger, stronger, faster, and more athletic.

Northridge +1.5 N'ridge is 6th seed Pacific is 7th so interesting that Pacific is favored. They split 2 really close games this year 3,4 pts. I'll go with the better rebounding team in this one.

605 Seattle Supersonics *OVER 193*+115*
Lewis and Allen healthy and shooting well, expect an abundance of 3's in this game

609 Houston Rockets *OVER 183.5*-105*
Last meeting was a 148 pt game, Ming back in 2nd game, should be back in the groove, Mind and McGrady combinded for 13 - 43 in last game, don't expect the poor shooting to continue.
