Black Caviar (Bel Esprit x Helsinge by Desert Sun) is taking the racing world by storm. Could the undefeated five-year-old mare be the next Zenyatta or Goldikova?
Jockey Luke Nolen piloted Black Caviar to victory April 9th in Australia’s $1 million, six-furlong (3/4-mile) Darley T.J. Smith Stakes at Royal Randwick Racecourse. The win makes the brown beauty the first automatic qualifier for the 2011 Breeders’ Cup World Championships in the fall. Black Caviar could be pointed for the Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint.
Of course, Black Caviar’s possible appearance in the Breeders’ Cup depends up her contacts’ choice to continue racing her as a sprinter and to campaign her outside Australia. Trainer Peter Moody has not confirmed autumn plans for the supermare from Down Under, although he has indicated that the awesome Aussie may be pointed for mile races soon.
