Nop, Could easily see that happening, especially towards the 3-4 round, where Chael likely is slowing down considerably if not outright gassed. Shogun might gas too, but he's the best damn gassed fighter around, and he often gasses when he takes heavy and sustained damage in the fight like against Jones and Hendo. Machida fight he looked fine in, when it was mostly grappling exchanges, wasn't awful in the Gustaffson fight either if I remember correctly. Could easily see him takedown or reverse a tired Chael, if Bisping could do it, so can Shogun.

Could easily see a GnP or armtriangle finish in the championship rounds.

He has the reputation of a striker but he sure likes to clinch and take people down.
He may try. Succeed? Probably not. He'll just end up gassing himself out faster if he tries to overpower Chael.

I feel I can find many legitimate ways of Shogun winning the fight. But wrestling/better cardio is just so much more consistent to me as far as fighters winning fights.

Shogun may have new found power thru Roach and actually not charge like a madman right into a TD. Not the best idea to throws kicks vs. a wrestler, but if he times a couple well-placed kicks to the knee, it could slow Sonnen down a lot. Shogun can sub Chael. Shogun has solid sweeps. Chael is a mental nut and can get desperate/goofy/lose focus/wilt.

Chael has beat close to no one even decent at 205 and may have a foot out the door anyway. Tons of reasons to like Shogun in some form or fashion. But just see Chael toughing out and wearing out Shogun.

Nobody gasses against Machida. If your legs are in shape it is basically a three round jog unless you are Davis who ran 95 percent of their fight.

just a tough fight to bet. I still think Live betting is the way to go in this one. I doubt it ends early and after round one you will know if Sonnen is on top of his game. If he gets the takedown and gets swept it could hurt his confidence. I never saw anyone sweep him tho. Shogun gets taken down by everyone. I think even Hendo took him down. Hendo hasn't tried a takedown since his college days lol.

Pre-fight conference call:

Sonnen
- My coach lost his gym, he didn't tell me until the 11th hour, so I couldn't help him
- My coach has health issues, so I came to LA 6 weeks ago
- I'm going back to 185 to chase Wanderlei and Belfort
- We're both going to go forward, we're main event, you can't play around in the main event, it's going to be alot of action
- Whether it's positive or negative, I don't know, I have to tune to find out as well
- I'd like to fight Anderson Silva right now
- I worked with a new set of coaches for this, historically when a guy switches camps he doesn't tend to do as well, it's a bit of an experiment
- I worked on alot of new stuff, and I've seen other guys where general that doesn't work out
- Trained with Hall, Gastelum, Munoz, but it's an experiment for me too
- I worked hard, I'm in great shape, I expect to win
- I was out of my comfort zone, I don't leave my house very often or my city if I have too
- I've been living in a hotel for the last 6 weeks, using a GPS to get around, I didn't know where I was
- But I put my time in
- Yes this is the first time I've ever worked with a different team, I've never worked out with Munoz before
- My corner will be my old corner, it had to be set 2 months ago, so we didn't attempt to make changes
- I can hardly focus on Shogun because I'm so excited to watch Overeem/Browne fight, we have Faber, and Conor McGregor, I love the sport
- I never miss a practice if I feel bad or not
- I haven't reached my goals, plus there are guys I want to fight, I don't know Shogun is one of those guys, but his friends are, plus I like to compete
- I don't have alot of friends so it's nice to go to the gym and be in a social atmosphere
- And I've always been impressed with athletes that can extend their career (Bernard Hopkins, Dara Torres)
- My career can be over any day now, I will be forced out of this sport, I will stay in it too long

Im a Shogun fan but styles make fights and i would take Shogun over Machida again before i took him over Sonnen. One thing that can't be disputed is the hard work Cheal puts in but i agree with him. A guy like him moving camp with his other obligations can't help any.
