Question for all horse players.

Default Question for all horse players.

A book lists a horse as being scratched.

This horse would be a favorite.

You handicap the races as if the horse isn't running. Bet the race.

You then get the race results only to find that the scratched horse has run, is the book responsible for your losing tickets?

I'm sure you are talking about this situation as discussed in the "Industry" section.

I will be repeating pretty much what i wrote in that thread but although it sucks that the information given to him was wrong, it is the players responsiblity to ensure that the changes are correct and to NOT rely on the sportsbook for this information. The player should get this information directly from the source and if he does not make the effort to do so, the book should not be held responsible.

Would you like to play a lottery with numbers 1-59 and see a 75 draw out ?

Same thing if a horse is listed as scratched and not available to bet and wins , then every win ticket, exacta, trifecta, pick 3, pick 4, pick 6 or daily double ticket is a loss involving that race.

How is that fair to anyone ? What case does the book have there ?

I agree. It is sad that we should be held responsible to check equibase just to see if the horse is running. Geez, maybe after reading this I will check my book's rules since I do a lot of pick 4's.
