NBA Player Props & Best Bets Today: Schedule, Picks for Thursday
We're looking at our favorite NBA player props and the best bets for Thursday based on the best NBA odds. We have our eyes on the Charlotte Hornets and Oklahoma City Thunder.
While the NBA player props and best bets article for Wednesday lacked betting options, we made our one bet count. Phoenix Suns center Jusuf Nurkic exceeded expectations by providing six assists against the Toronto Raptors, surpassing the two required for our 4-plus assists prop. Thanks to Nurkic, we gained 1.45 units on that prop alone.
The NBA slate is typically smaller on Thursday, but that isn't the case for this week with nine games on the schedule, as the NBA adjusts its schedule to accommodate the NBA In-Season Tournament.

Thursday’s NBA player props
Miles Bridges Under 21.5 points vs. Nets (-105 via DraftKings) ⭐⭐⭐⭐
While Bridges has been going Over his total since returning to the Hornets, he wasn't doing it on a total of 21.5 points. This presents a much different probability for Bridges on Wednesday compared to the 12.5 and 13.5 he was given during his first two games of 2023-24.
The Hornets will be without LaMelo Ball on Wednesday, and while you could argue that might increase Bridges' usage, I think it will take away many easy shots and plays at the rim that Ball creates.
Bridges likely caught some teams by surprise after returning from his suspension. However, there's a strong possibility he'll be the focal point of the Nets' defense on Wednesday, presenting a much different challenge for Bridges.
The Hornets' starting lineup is filled with wing players, including Bridges, Gordon Hayward, and Brandon Miller. When the Hornets run certain actions for Bridges, how do you create an advantage for him against the Nets? Brooklyn can switch everything because it also boasts corresponding wing players in Mikal Bridges, Royce O'Neale, and Dorian Finney-Smith to match up against Bridges.
This total is therefore too high for Bridges against the Nets on Wednesday. He's projected to score 20.3 points, so we can price the Under on 21.5 points at -141, but it's available via DraftKings at -105.

Luguentz Dort Over 7.5 points vs. Lakers (-109 via BetRivers) ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Whatever you do, don't look at Dort's recent trends before placing this bet; it'll probably deter you from making the wager. Yes, Dort has gone Under his points total in seven of his last eight games, but he isn't going Under every total for the rest of his career. Plus, his total eight games ago was trading at 12.5, and now we're all the way down to 7.5 points.
If you're the Los Angeles Lakers, you are going to allow Anthony Davis to guard Chet Holmgren one on one, and you won't be sending any help defense. That will allow the other Lakers defenders to clog the lane and play a ton of help defense on Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.
So, what's the counter for the Thunder? Well, they need shooters to help space the floor for Gilgeous-Alexander and stop the Lakers from sending so much help defense. This should lead to more run and open shots for Dort and Isaiah Joe. I think you will see them on the floor together a lot more on Thursday.
The narrative around Joe is much different this season; he is one of the top shooters in the entire NBA, and defenses are very aware of where he is on the court. So, if Joe and Dort are playing together, expect the help to come from Dort's defender, which should leave Dort with plenty of open 3-point attempts.
Dort is projected to score 9.3 points on Thursday against the Lakers, which allows us to price the Over 7.5 points at -159, but it is available at BetRivers at -109.
