Denny Hamlin, William Byron, and Kyle Larson are the favorites by the NASCAR Cup Series championship odds through the first 10 races of the 2024 season.

We're officially two months into the 2024 NASCAR season, and there's a three-way tie atop three of our best sports betting sites for the Cup Series favorite heading into Sunday's race at Dover Motor Speedway.

William Byron, who entered the year as a co-favorite with Kyle Larson, leads the field with three wins through 10 races. Larson leads all drivers in laps led (531) and enters this weekend as the betting favorite across our best sportsbooks to win the 2024 Wurth 400.

Yet Denny Hamlin has the edge at Caesars, the only book with a clear preference among the three drivers. He won the preseason Clash at the Coliseum and has since won two more races at Bristol and Richmond, and he could be a threat to join the Championship 4 after Byron and Larson did so in 2023.

Here is our updated look at the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series Championship odds (via the best sports betting apps) and our top picks among the field.

Favorites to win NASCAR Cup Series Championship

Denny Hamlin (+500 via bet365)

Hamlin might be the best driver in the field to never win the Cup Series championship, but he's making one heck of a push for his first title in 2024.

The No. 11 has won twice in the last six races and was among the favorites at Talladega before getting swept up in a Toyota pileup. It's still been an epic run for the NASCAR veteran, whose car and pit crew are both among the best in the field through the first two months of the season.

While Hamlin's only top-five results have come in those two wins, he's been in contention just about every week, and his team seems to be firing on all cylinders. Watch out.

William Byron (+500 via BetMGM)

Nobody has won more often or more impressively than Byron, whose win at Martinsville three weeks ago was his third of the season - already half his six-win total from 2023 in 29 fewer races.

At just 26, Byron has already established himself as perhaps the premier driver in the field, and he's among the betting favorites for every race. That remains the case on short tracks, superspeedways, and even road courses, as he's picked up one win apiece on each of those types of tracks.

We said before his win at Martinsville that Byron's +575 odds might be the best we see all season. His price is even shorter now, and I don't expect that to reverse course before the NASCAR playoffs.

Kyle Larson (+500 via Caesars)

While Larson is no longer the consensus favorite as he was earlier in the season, the preseason front-runner remains a threat every time he hits the track after a second-place finish in 2023.

The 2021 champion has already recorded one dominant win at Las Vegas, and he's posted the overall most laps led (531) of any driver in the field through the first 10 races. He was one of just two drivers to lead more than 1,000 laps in 2023 (Byron was the other), and he leads the NASCAR Cup Series standings after claiming three poles in his last four races.

Larson has been the fastest driver in the field since breaking onto the scene with 10 wins and his first Cup Series title in 2021. Anything can happen in the playoff era, but you can expect Larson to be among the final drivers in the field.

Ty Gibbs (+1800 via BetMGM)

We've been banging the drum on Gibbs' long-shot odds all season long, including when he was dealing at 28/1 way back in February. His price has been slashed since then, but these odds at BetMGM are still a relative bargain for arguably the best young driver in the field.

Gibbs has proven to be one of the circuit's best after only two seasons in the Cup series, with three top-five finishes and five top-10s through the first 10 races of the campaign. He's also led the fourth-most laps (201) and had finished in the top 20 in every race before last week's P22 at Talladega.

The 2023 Rookie of the Year is closing in on his first win, and it feels inevitable that Gibbs - the grandson of Joe Gibbs - will win a Cup Series trophy at some point in his career. With the way he's racing thus far, I wouldn't be shocked if that comes ahead of schedule.

NASCAR Cup Series Championship odds over time

April 23: We've reached the point in the season where odds rarely move across our best live betting sites for anyone who doesn't win a race.

Last week's biggest mover was Chase Elliott, who snapped a 42-race winless streak at Texas Motor Speedway. Fittingly, the biggest mover this week was Tyler Reddick, who captured his first checkered flag of the season at Talladega after Michael McDowell's crash on the final turn wiped out half the field.

Reddick sits just behind 2023 winner Ryan Blaney, whose odds have gradually fallen as he seeks his first win of the season. Martin Truex Jr., who ranks third in laps led (368), enters the Wurth 400 with the shortest odds of anyone without a win.

How to bet on the NASCAR Cup Series Championship

While there is no dominant driver in the NASCAR field as there once was, preseason favorites Kyle Larson and William Byron have established themselves as the top two competitors in the overall field and are among the favorites in just about every race. Denny Hamlin has entered the mix, too, after two wins of his own.

Betting on any of those drivers isn't a bad way to invest in the season, with all three looking likely to be among the final cars in the playoff field. If you're looking for a way to fade those leaders, you might find better value on a race-to-race basis - like when Daniel Suarez won in Atlanta with odds as high as 45/1.

That said, NASCAR's playoff format adds volatility to the overall field, so we recommend picking off relative values like Ryan Blaney, Joey Logano, and Ty Gibbs, who all have the makeup and team to compete with a bigger payoff than the top three.
