Prime Sportsbook will fully launch in New Jersey on Wednesday, April 3rd, following a soft launch the Sunday prior. This will allow the sportsbook to be open 24 hours per day, as opposed to the eight hours it’s been allowed to operate since its initial soft launch on March 31st. It joins several of our best sports betting sites in the Garden State.

New Jersey is the second state where Prime Sportsbook operates after launching in Ohio in September 2023.

The Sportsbook For Sharps

Prime Sportsbook wants to be each state's top option for sharp bettors. To attract these types of bettors, it avoids limiting the size of bets that can be placed and does not limit how much bettors can withdraw from their accounts after winning.

Though this method has been questioned, Executive Chairman Joe Brennan Jr. believes allowing bettors more freedom will ultimately lead to more customer loyalty.

Eliminating Offshore Betting

Prime Sportsbook is not a service intended to lure bettors away from the major sportsbooks of FanDuel and DraftKings. Instead, one of its major goals is to provide an alternative to offshore betting. With limitations on wager sizes, available markets, and the number of bets that can be placed at legalized books, many sports bettors are still using offshore markets or bookies to get the action they want.

By removing these limitations, Prime Sportsbook hopes to convert these types of bettors in the New Jersey sports betting scene to its sportsbook.

All Bettors Will Be Treated the Same

But sharps aren’t the only bettors that Prime Sportsbook hopes to gain. They ultimately want to be a sportsbook for everyone. This means that they will welcome all bettors and everyone will get the same maximum. Bettors also won’t be limited to the amount of times that they can make a particular wager.

Focus on Customer Service Rather Than Promos

Prime Sportsbook won’t focus on promos to gain customers in the short term. Instead, it believes it can build a loyal customer base by focusing on customer service. For residents of the Garden State, several New Jersey sportsbook promos are already available from other providers.

In a recent interview, Brennan stated that they can help all their customers when they encounter a problem. He believes this will lead to more customer loyalty, as bettors return for the experience of wagering at Prime Sportsbook, even if promos aren’t being offered at a high rate. This may prevent quick sign-ups, but Brennan believes it will lead to longer customer retention.

Reduced Juice

Prime Sportsbook hopes to earn market share by offering reduced juice across the board. This means that markets that would be offered at -110 at all other major sportsbooks could be offered at -108 or better at Prime.

If this leads to bettors seeking out Prime Sportsbook and going away from other New Jersey sports betting apps, it will be interesting to see if adjustments are made by other sportsbooks who own most of the market share. If they are, then that could lead to a better betting experience for all bettors regardless of where they wager.

The Future of Prime Sportsbook

February was a mixed bag for Prime Sportsbook in Ohio. Since launching in September, they took in more than $10 million in wagers for the first time. But they also reported their largest monthly loss to date. However, they also became the ninth-biggest sportsbook in Ohio, and if they continue to grow, they should pass Hard Rock Sportsbook this month.

Prime Sportsbook now has its sights set on Kentucky. They hope to make the third state where they run operations when they launch there later this year.
