WTA Challenger Tour Bet Misgraded by Betsafe, says Player
A Betsafe Sportsbook (SBR rating C-) player has filed a wagering complaint.
The player placed a sports bet on the WTA Challenger tennis match between Danielle Collins and Tatjana Maria.
The wager was on Collins +1.5. Collins won the first set of the match. Her opponent retired in the second set, and Betsafe graded the bet as no action.
The player has argued that Betsafe's own posted rule on tennis handicap specifically says that wagers where the outcome has not already been determined will be void, and that because Collins won the first set of a three set match, there was no possibility for Tatjana Maria to cover a -1.5 sets handicap as the most she'd be able to win by would be 1 set (2-1 outcome).
Betsafe's posted rule reads as follows: "If a tennis match is not completed for any reason all handicap bets of which the outcome has not already been determined shall be considered as void."
Betsafe Sportsbook did not immediately correct the mistake according to the player, prompting him to file a sportsbook complaint.
