Super Bowl Betting Trends & Fast Facts You Need to Know

The stage has been set and the contestants are no longer a mystery as the New England Patriots and Atlanta Falcons will battle for the Lombardi Trophy on February 5 in Houston.

Dogs Howling & White Jerseys Matter
The New England Patriots have been installed by sportsbooks as 3 favorites over the Atlanta Falcons in Super Bowl 51.

Favorites have won 32 of 50 Super Bowls outright but underdogs have covered the number in eight of the last nine Super Bowls. And for all you money line bettors, the underdog has won outright in seven of those eight covers.

Another interesting Super Bowl tidbit is that the home team (the designation alternates each year from conference to conference, with Atlanta assigned as the home team this year) gets to choose which color jersey they will wear.

The teams wearing the white jerseys have won 11 of the last 12 Super Bowls. As of this publication, there is no word on which jersey the Falcons will choose.

The below grid shows the futures betting market week by week for both the Falcons and Patriots. A bettor could have received up to 66 to 1 on the Falcons back in week two, and 8 to 1 on the Patriots after week one when they were still without the services of Tom Brady.
