Sports BIT: Cowboys-Cardinals & NCAAF Preview Part 2

On the Thursday, Aug. 3 Sports BIT show, Teddy Covers & Pauly Howard break down the first exhibition matchup of the new NFL season, Cowboys-Cardinals in the Hall of Fame Game. And it's a Deep Dive college football preview Part 2 with Rob Veno. Note to readers: no show Friday.

Dallas Cowboys vs. Arizona Cardinals

The 2017 NFL exhibition season begins Thursday night in an NBC nationally televised matchup between the Cowboys and Cardinals from Canton, Ohio, in the annual Hall of Fame Game. This year, the NFL moved it from Sunday to Thursday after the 2016 game was canceled due to poor field conditions. Cardinals coach Bruce Arians already has stated that not a single starter will play in the game and neither will backup QB Drew Stanton. So it will be Blaine Gabbert and rookie Trevor Knight under center. Cowboys coach Jason Garrett hasn’t definitely stated his plans, but it’s likely to be the same. Since both teams will play five exhibition games, the coaches feel no need to push the first-stringers. History has shown you should be betting the ‘under’ total in this game as they have been very low scoring of late.

College Football Deep Dive Part 2 With Rob Veno

The guys continue their look at the 2017 college football season with special guest Rob Veno. This show looks at a potential sleeper in the Pac-12 in the Washington State Cougars. Coach Mike Leach brings back the Pac-12’s best quarterback in senior Luke Falk, a likely first-round draft pick in 2018. The Cougars have always scored well under Leach, and they might be good defensively too with nine starters back on that side of the ball. Another undervalued team could be Missouri in the SEC as the Tigers have become an afterthought. With QB Drew Lock, the Tigers should be valued right there with Kentucky or South Carolina … but they’re not. Bettors should lean the ‘over’ in all Tulane games this season as Willie Fritz’s offense primed to shine with K-State transfer Jonathan Banks at quarterback and a terrible defense.
