Floyd Mayweather vs. Conor McGregor's recent super-fight set the stage for what should in reality be a bout much more deserving of the mainstream media's focus and a subject of interest among online sports bettors: Canelo Alvarez vs. Gennady "Triple G" Golovkin.

This pay-per-view event actually matches two fighters of equal talent who are in the prime of their careers. The undefeated Golovkin is the betting favorite at odds floating around -150, while Canelo is trading around +135 at most online sportsbooks. Boxing lines typically move most in the days leading up to the fight, so sports bettors with a lean one way or another can potentially find a fair amount of value in the competitively priced line 17 days out from the fight.

Online sportsbooks have already released a healthy variety of boxing prop bets, and many more are expected to be released ahead of the September 16 tilt, which will be broadcast live on HBO PPV.  At publication time, bookmakers are offering up to +863 on Alvarez winning by KO/TKO/DQ, so a $863 profit for every $100 put down. Golovkin is priced at +182 to win by KO/TKO DQ.

The fight going the 12 round distance is set at -140 odds. A draw is set at the price of +1500.
