Sportsbook Review analyst Natalie Rydstrom provides an SBR Industry News Update for July 31st, 2012. In today's sportsbook news video, the latest online sportsbook disputes from the SBR newswire are featured in video format. BetClic, BetAtHome, and BetLegends are subjects of today's video.


 
A BetClic Sportsbook player reports that his account has been closed with a €1,600 balance. The player signed up to BetClic four weeks ago and deposited €500. He tells SBR that his wager limit was reduced to €120, though he continued to wager. BetClic then slashed the players limits again, before closing his account. The player contacted BetClic (SBR rating D+) and was given the following quote from customer service:

BetClic: “We reserve the right to close an Account and to retain the balance on that Account where we have reasonable suspicion that the Account is being used or controlled by a person other than the person named as the registered account holder.”

The player denies ever using more than one account, and notes that he did not accept a bonus. In addition to seizing the player’s balance, BetClic has not refunded the player’s deposit. SBR is following up on this claim.

In other news: Betway has made headlines again for another balance confiscation. Betway.com (SBR rating D-) zeroed out £7,000 from a winning player. The player tells SBR that he received a bonus from Betway before going on a good run. Betway has become known for unfairly docking player winnings if that user at any point wagers in excess of 30% of their starting bonus amount. It is unclear if this is what led to the confiscation, as Betway is no longer willing to discuss claims with SBR. SBR advises Betway players to file a dispute with the Lotteries and Gaming Authority of Malta.

Now for something more positive: BetLegends (SBR rating A+) has rolled out a new loyalty program that gives cash-back to depositing players. SBR spoke at length with management over the new program, and received the following statement:

Legends management: "This program is a way of saying thank you to our valuable clients and one of many perks players will be offered headed into the upcoming football season. Players can contact us with any questions about this program via live help, email or telephone."
