SBR Bill Dozer reports:

Gibraltar (SBR rating C) confiscates customer funds. The book decided they no longer desired a player’s business and agreed to pay him in full. When he received his Neteller withdrawal he found that his bonus, and winnings derived from his free-play bonus, had been deducted. The player exceeded his roll-over requirement, yet Gibraltar kept a total of $577 that was previously included in his account balance.

“In the conversation, I was told that I will receive my full account balance, minus the $30 fee for neteller withdrawal, within the day. When I received my funds from Neteller, I realized that they’ve deducted $607.5 from my account ($150 initial deposit bonus + $427.5 won on freeplay + $30 withdrawal fee). I called them and I was referred to “Andrew" who is the manager. He told me that they do not want my action and they have the right to confiscate that money and he would not need to give me any more explanation on that because they are operating a business and it is their right to deduct my winnings from my free-play as well as the initial deposit bonus. No appropriate reasons were given. He also mentioned that I’ve won some money with them and they’ve paid me." -L.C

Sister sportsbook BettorsTrust (SBR rating D+) was also guilty of this same action last month. However, management promptly reversed this decision when SBR inquired on the player’s behalf. Players must be able to count bonus monies as part of their account balance when wagering requirements have been legitimately met. SBR to once again inquire with management.

Salma Crump who pioneered the online launch of WWTS has joined Olympic (SBR rating A+).

05.16.2005
Salma is the latest ex WWTS executive to land with an A+ sportsbook. Her presence and leadership could make a major difference. Simon Noble, ex CEO of WWTS and Intertops, recently joined Pinnacle (SBR rating A+). And finally the dynamic Jessica Davis, COO of BetWWTS (SBR rating A+), has her contract extended as does CEO Collin Walker. The stability at BetWWTS is a welcome sign as they prepare to integrate their acquisition of Cybersportsbook.

SBR COSTA RICA OFFICE: MyBookie (SBR rating D+)

05.15.2005

Sources here in Costa Rica tell SBR that MyBookie management is elated that there has been minimal backlash from the revelation that they shortchanged a player for $85,000. MyBookie pays in advance an advertising fee to all the major watchdogs and so far that has proven to be money well spent. None of the major watchdogs have even mentioned the incident much less demanded that MyBookie pay the player. Players should be warned that a lucky streak at MyBookie could well produce an offer to settle for .30 cents on every dollar won.

SBR comments on recent Upgrades and Downgrades:

05.14.2005
Problem plagued FutureBet books such as SportsbookUSA earn an upgrade off the Black List to D-. This is an improving situation but still a high risk.

Mansion raised from C to B-. This upgrade highlights our confidence in Mansion management.

MajorBetting raised from D+ to C-. The unusual and increasing rating spread between MajorBetting at C- and their management company, BetRoyal rating of D, highlights SBR’s opinion that players are actually safer playing at the managed book.

Internet1x2 lowered to F-. We continue to work with players to get them paid. Unfortunately it appears that we no longer can be an effective intermediary as the book shows no concern for the continuing No-Pays.

Canbet upgraded from B+ to A-. It was January 26, 2004 when Canbet was last an ’A’ rated book. IAS, the parent comapnay, has worked hard to improve their product and player feedback clearly indicates they are making strong progress.

draw an automatic downgrade for improper player account confiscation.  GCS admits to settling a player’s balance for far less than its true value; a clear violation of the SBR guidelines for account confiscation. Account confiscation is only permitted in cases of fraud with convincing evidence. No such fraud occurred in this case nor does the player stand accused of such.

Players report not receiving BoDog (SBR rating A-) payout as scheduled. Bodog discovered a technical error occurred with some eCheck withdrawals and had to reprocess these payouts. BoDog has assured SBR that this is an isolated incident and that players will not have to wait longer than an additional three days for their funds.

Players finding extreme value betting the NBA Playoffs.

05.12.2005

The NBA is down to its final eight teams which means sportsbooks are getting more action focused on these mainstream matchups. High profile events allow bookmakers more room to move their lines according to their own opinions and customer base. Players can capitalize on this value by monitoring the betting market at SBROdds.com. SBROdds now features 10 Sportsbooks offering live odds in real time.

SportsbookUSA (SBR rating D-) and multiple sister Futurebet sportsbooks exit SBR’s Blacklist. Although the company’s withdrawals are severely delayed, an F rating is no longer justified. Management tells SBR that SportsbookUSA will pick up the tab for other Futurebet sites that can not meet their obligation as was the case with Oceansbet (SBR rating F-). It should be noted that all Futurebet books are requiring at least two weeks to process Neteller payouts.

Player files no-pay complaint against Interactive Gaming System’s (IGS) WorldCasinoSportsBets (SBR rating F+). WCSB has owed the player $1200 since October of 2004. No managing company takes less responsibility for player funds and services more scam operations than IGS. It takes as little as $15,000 for an individual to erect his or her own scam-sportsbook. Players should avoid this group which is also known as PlayerCenter.

More Customer Service complaints from players with large Sportsbooks. The BetAndWin Group is the subject of three customer service complaints this past week. Each player also reports that his email inquiries did not garner a response. SBR’s Terry Terasco is currently looking into the various player issues, including this one from BAW’s PlayIt (SBR rating B).

"I recently opened an account with an online bookmaker called PlayIt (playit.com) - B rated on your site. The offer was if you deposited £20 they would credit you with a £17 bonus. I signed up (User Name xxxxxxxx) and deposited and bet £20 which lost. Despite numerous e-mails in the last 10 days or so I have not had the courtesy of a reply, far less the bonus credited."

SportsbookReview receives a new batch of complaints against the Sportingbet Group. SportingbetUSA (SBR rating C) continues to delay withdrawal requests by performing account audits. More than a few players have also complained that SportingbetUSA payouts have been delivered by check, despite the fact that they had requested their funds via Neteller. In some countries players are forced to pay large processing fees when cashing these checks. The book has declined player requests to reimburse these costs. These lapses in customer service have resulted in a downgrade of SBTusa from C+ to C.
