BetUS credits player for teaser loss

BetUs (SBR rating D) credits player for teaser loss after scam attempt fails. Thanks to SBR readers who have contacted BetUs and BetUs promoters to voice their disfavor.

"Dear Mr. Dozer, They gave me the other $100 and i cashed it out immediately. They originally gave me a $100 free bet which I used some of, and so I was actually fair about it when they asked me what it would take to end it all. I would like to thank you for your help and I really appreciate it. Please don’t get confused with them giving back my cash to them being legit however. The only reason they gave me back my money is because of your help and I was smarter than them in catching there lies and using those lies against them."

Mansion closes for US

Mansion (SBR rating B-) closes its sportsbook and casino to players residing in the US. Mansion’s most popular offering is its low-margin sports exchange betting platform, which will remain open for all clients. However, management tells SBR that they will no longer employ market makers to seed the exchange and there may be a substantial decline in wagering activity. The company aims to offer true peer-to-peer trading. SBR has downgraded Mansion to B- due to customer service issues, reduced offerings, and complaints of canceled wagers without alerting players through email.

SIA admits to being one week behind with some larger payouts. The book has dealt with the issue by asking players to verify ID and to fax in the same documents multiple times. SBR has received nine payout complaints from players waiting for larger sums. When these clients have asked for the status of their payouts, accounting informs them that the documents are either not on file, not yet verified, or they must resend. 

"They first claimed they never got my fax...then I faxed it to them and they said they got it, and still they won’t do anything. I have sent it twice, they have verified that they received it, and still they do nothing". - N. A.

"The last correspondance received from SIA was October 5th.  They claim to be making a short review of my account.  A week seems a little more than short". - B. N.

"They suddenly asked for my SSN for so called ’’identity verification’’ purpose.  After complaining with them, they are willing to accept photo ID, utility bill, etc as an alternative. That’s fine, and I sent them all the required documents on Oct 3rd. And confirmed with their live chat rep that documents have been received and forwarded to their accounts department for review. But after a whole week, I still have not heard of anything back from their accounts department. I talked with their live chat rep a couple of times, and heard some different kinds of excuse , documents not received, huge backlog, documents goes to supervisor first then to accounts department". - B.Z.

Sportingbet Plc partially reverses decision to cancel winning bets

After Sportingbet Plc severed itself from its US-serving brands, complaints began to flood the SBR mailbox. Non-US players in the newly sold sportsbooks were told that all pending bets would be canceled. This was due to the new company, Jazette Enterprises Limited’s noncompete agreement with Sportingbet Plc. Jazette (JEL) agreed not to service non-US players and to steer its international players back to the Plc’s remaining non-US serving sportsbooks. Fortunately, Non-US players were contacted this evening and told their accounts would be maintained and transferred to a different sportsbook. However, JEL decided to acknowledge specific US State laws and discontinue servicing players where they apply. Sportsbook.com and its sister sites have told players living in the offending states that they will not be paid their impending winnings. SBR will discuss the remaining complaints with individual property managers/owners. Players with canceled winning wagers or canceled wagers that have gained market value should contact SBR.

Betcorp Freezes all US accounts

The Betcorp Group, which includes WWTS (SBR rating C-) has frozen all accounts belonging to US residents indefinitely. SBR has learned that the company has taken this action in order to facilitate a sale that would put the sportsbooks under private ownership. Players can expect to be locked out of their accounts at the start of the business week.

BetButler (SBR rating F) players told balances will be moved to Danbook (not rated).

After nearly a month without communicating with players, BetButler.com posts statement that all balances will be moved to Danbook. Danbook opened in February of 2005 as a reduced vig bookmaker. SBR does not have further information about this sportsbook.

Statement: Sportingbet announces that it has sold, on 12 October 2006, its US-facing sports betting and casino business (the “US Operations”) to Jazette Enterprises Limited (“JEL”) (the “Disposal”). Sportingbet received cash consideration of US$1 for the shares and related assets of the US Operations, and has discharged excess liabilities amounting to approximately US$13.2 million.

Betcorp Ltd. considers pulling out of US market

BetWWTS (SBR rating B+) is the latest sportsbook under a public company attempting to solidify plans to privatize. Betcorp Ltd released a statement this evening acknowledging that if it was unable to move its US-focused brands under private ownership by Friday, services to the US market would close. Sources within the company tell SBR "It’s likely you will see the last two public giants privatize within the next 48 hours but of course, all [Betcorp sportsbook] players will receive their funds immediately if this is not achieved." Sportingbet Plc, the parent company of Sportsbook.com, also released a statement today saying that it would look to sell its US-focused brands. Although the safety of WWTS player funds are not in question, SBR has downgraded the BetCorp Group to B+. The books will be reevaluated once it is known if account holders will maintain the ability to wager.

SBR has confirmed with sources within VIP (SBR rating A+) that all North American facing business will carry on under a private ownership group. The management and staff are planned to remain the same.

SBR speaks with BetUs (SBR rating D) management who acknowledges editing the site’s rules after player requested a balance credit. BetUs chose to reference a contradicting rule as justification for deducting funds from user’s account and says they will not be returning the player’s money.

GolfingGods has been in slow-pay mode since August which prompted a series of downgrades bringing the book from D+ to F. Owner, Jason West told players, through a statement on the book’s homepage, that GolfingGods was broke and players would not be able to speak with him. The message has since been edited. Unless legal action against this UK licensed company is pursued, it is unlikely bettors will hear from "Jason West" or Golfing Gods again. Below is the original message posted on GolfingGods.com.

BetCRIS (SBR rating A+) discussing bailing out non-US account holders with BetOnSports.

Sources tell SBR that the deal is not yet finalized. BetOnSports has made news in Costa Rica this week for failing to pay employees as promised. BOS has owed its fomer employees for 50 days. The book initially assured its 1,450 staff members that they would receive their earnings after three weeks.

Bet4Aces (SBR rating F) appears to have pulled the plug on its website. Players who have been tracking this scam are aware that balances can be viewed by logging into new scam site, Sportsbook777.com (SBR rating F). Others are now learning that they have been scammed. SBR is currently investigating several other websites that may be affiliated with Bet4Aces.

Player: "I have been frantically trying to figure out what is going on and then came across your site and see that they are on your Black List.  I see that they have merged with/changed to Sportsbook777.com.  I tried out my account info and password there and it works! But when I tried calling them, someone answered playing dumb and then said that he needs to call the wagering room and then will call me back and hung up the phone without even getting my number."

Bettors upset by invalid promotional offers

Sportsbooks are aggressively marketing to their client base and for most books, that means sending out mass email offers. SBR has received an unusually high volume of complaints from players that have deposited funds in order to get an offered bonus, only to learn they are ineligible.  Players who are denied a bonus after depositing in response to an email should have the option to receive a full and immediate refund with transfer costs absorbed by the sportsbook. Players who are told they must proceed to bet with these funds are encouraged to contact SBR. SBR advises sportsbooks to list all terms and conditions within the initial offer and suggests bettors confirm eligibility prior to sending funds.

to offer to settle debts with vicitims of Virtual Group Sportsbooks. The sportsbooks include, but are not limited to, ScoreSportsbook, PyramidSportsbook, KingSportsbook and TNTsportsbook. These properties, which were operated by the BetRoyal parent company, closed their doors in 2003 making players the victim of theft. Customers are encouraged to contact SBR with balance and account information. Royal Sports has agreed to allow SBR to mediate claims where balances are questionable. An official statement is expected early next week.
