SportsInteraction downgraded from C- to D+
The downgrade is a result of the latest funds confiscation complaint by a player who had five months of winnings voided as well as previous incidents over the past six months where SIA applied rules that did not exist. These players accuse SportsInteraction of taking a wait-and-see approach and applying unlisted policies to their large accounts. SIA has added to its rules pages after discussing incidents with SBR but refuses to honor the winnings in question.

BetUs (SBR rating D) resolves remaining withdrawal complaintsThe sportsbook has addressed all pending slow-pay complaints, which at last count included 49 players. New Sports Betting Exchange Raided?

07.10.2007
Seattle Post Intelligencer reports Betcha.com (SBR rating D-) shut down
Washington State Gambling Commission investigators seized computers from a new Seattle-based Internet-betting site Monday, claiming the business violated the state's 2006 online gambling ban -- a contention the site's founder strongly disputes. Agents with a search warrant confiscated laptops and computer monitors before Betcha.com's seven employees arrived to work in the company's North Seattle office. More

The Seattle, Washington and Canada-based exchange was attempting to facilitate the matching of bets between two users for a fee. This model was deemed illegal by the Nevada Gaming Commission which arrested WagerFree (SBR rating F-) owner Garet Bradford. Bradford also claimed to be only facilitating bets between "club members." Despite the consumer fraud element to Mr. Bradford's scam operation, authorities ultimately charged WagerFree's owner with two felony counts relating to operating a gambling business without a license. Betcha.com maintains its server in Canada and is currently online.

BetOnUSA (SBR rating D+) is now officially owned by the Sportsbook.com Group
Shortly after Sportsbook.com told Sportsbook Review that they acquired BetOnUSA at the close of 2006, management from the former BetOnUSA Group informed us that they were only utilizing Sportsbook.com as a turnkey partner and they intended to bring BetOnUSA and account holders back under their new software platform. Our source informed us today that they have sold the brand. Sportsbook.com (Jazette Enterprises) is 100% owner of BetOnUSA, which is expected to remain on Jazette's World Gaming platform.

The Gala Coral Group, Coral (SBR rating A-) and Eurobet (SBR rating A-), will close accounts from Australia, Switzerland, Ukraine, India, Singapore, and Thailand on Monday, July 9th. Coral banned a long list of countries including Brazil, Japan, Mexico and Costa Rica on June 1st. The bookmaker states that the latest change is a company decision made to focus more on European markets.

BetAndWin Group, or bwin International Ltd, raised from C- to C+.

07.06.2007
BetAndWin Group, or bwin International Ltd, raised from C- to C+. The company, which includes BetBull, Betoto, and flagship, bwin has earned praise from players and the SBR staff for a higher level of service. bwin has been observed using an objective and player-friendly approach with bettors who have filed a complaint, and engaging in dialogue with users under investigation for fraudulent activity. bwin has also succeeded in reducing the amount of complaints due to erroneously offered odds in the second quarter of 2007. SBR does not have any pending complaints from the BetAndWin Group.

07.06.2007
Tradesports (SBR rating C+) again changes fee schedule and agrees not to apply the 4% fee to contracts that were in place as of July 27th, when the new fees were instituted. Tradesports states it will issue refunds for the amount that exceeds the would-be cost of the previous price format. Some bettors who planned to trade out of their position are still upset that they are facing increased pricing and believe they should be grandfathered until the event is concluded. However, TradeSports warns players that fees may change and advises "only trade a contract if you are willing to hold that position until expiry."

07.05.2007

BetRoyal (SBR rating D+) placing a 7 day hold on new withdrawal requests. The sportsbook's customer service has told players that "because all customer information was migrated to the new platform any payout that is reuested will have a 7 day maturity period before it is approved."  BetRoyal Players whose accounts were moved successfully will see the switch from the ASI platform to Mercedes Software (demo users must select "Play For Fun").

07.04.2007
SportsInteraction (SBR rating C-) refuses to reconsider decision to confiscate player's $15,000 in winnings. The player was told that his account was closed yet was able to wager for an additional five months. SportsInteraction was asked to consider a settlement with the client due to the fact that if the bettor had lost all funds, it would be unlikely the account would be reviewed resulting in a refund. SBR's position has been made clear: SIA allowed the player to risk funds, benefited by the chance to win money from the player, and is responsible for the booked wagers. | Original complaint report

SBR’s Sports Betting Rules Monitor: Sportsbooks react to rainout in Yankees vs. Orioles game on June 28th, 2007. For wagering purposes Baltimore was graded as a 6-4 winner despite the game being suspended in the top of the 8th due to weather with the Yankees leading 8-6. Many New York bettors requested clarification from clerks, prompting the betting sites to update and/or clarify wagering rules.

BetOnline (SBR rating B+) clarifies baseball moneyline grading
BetOnline removes irrelevant text about the game being official for grading purposes after 8.5 (if home team is winning) or 9 innings, leaving text stating moneyline baseball bets are official after 5 complete innings or 4.5 innings if the home team is winning.

BetPlatinum (SBR rating C-) removes contradicting wording to clarify that MLB games must go 4.5 (if home team is winning) or 5 innings to declare moneyline winner; removes text suggesting 9 innings of play is required for all grading.

TradeSports once again tampering with established wagers?

07.01.2007
TradeSports (SBR rating C+) now telling players the new 4% profit tax fee will be applied retroactively. Multiple players have complained that they priced events based on the previous fee structure and to change the fee on established contracts would essentially change their wager after it was placed. Tradesports users complained about similar actions by the exchange in November of last year.

Player: It keeps getting worse. First they were saying that the new fees would apply to newly listed contracts after the effective date. Then they said that trading out of a previous position at a profit would incur the new fees, but that letting an old position expire would only incur the fee in effect at the time the position was taken.
Now they are saying that all expirations and closing trades, no matter when the position was taken, will incur the 4% fee. Even the slimiest of sportsbooks out there tend not to change rules, fees and payouts retroactively. Can you please try to reason with TradeSports to stop this insanity? Their fee change could be a good thing, but casually reducing the value of existing positions is outright theft.

Bet911 misses scheduled payouts

06.30.2007
Bet911 (SBR rating D+) misses scheduled payouts; pays some only $500 of $2500 requested. Other Bet911 players complain of locked accounts and confiscated balances. Bet911 management states that a newly instated risk management team has found these account holders to be taking part in "syndicate wagering." Bet911 and sister sportsbook Bookie247 (SBR rating D+) should be avoided as SBR addresses multiple isssues with management.

06.28.2007
Bet1128 (not rated) refuses to honor winning soccer wagers; claims "The odds were wrong because of a problem with our program." The sportsbook does not claim the line was an obvious error and says they "have the right to void or cancel any bets at any time if we find it suitable before the game has kicked off." The player is rightfully upset that his sportsbook took a valid wager, was able to watch the market, and cancel the bet after deciding it had an unfavorable position. The player was not contacted via email. The bets were canceled prior to the start of the game. | Original complaint 6.18.2007

Sportsbook.com makes wager grading mistake

06.27.2007
Sportsbook.com (SBR rating D+) and sister books such as BetUSA (SBR rating D+) fail to correct grading errors. The Sportsbook.com Group erroneously voided winning baseball bets in two instances claiming they received information that there were pitching changes. In both cases the listed pitchers did start the game. SBR will escalate the complaints to management. Players who had a listed baseball bet cancelled are invited to contact SBR. Sportsbook.com players who had listed money line bets on the Cardinals on June 19th or 26th graded as a loss are also asked to provide SBR with wager details.
