Oddsmaker Sportsbook slow-pay nears third month

01.29.2015

Oddsmaker Sportsbook (SBR rating F) is still yet to comment on the $995 payout complaint filed by a player in December. The sportsbook has confiscated more than $250,000 from winning players to date and often cites their terms and conditions section that outlaws "wise guy" or professional play. Oddsmaker has refused to speak with SBR since the $45,000 payout complaint originally reported in 2012. The betting site has capitalized off a successful URL but remains on the sportsbook blacklist for their poor treatment of sharp players and disputes involving unpaid winnings.

How to approach Super Bowl Prop Betting: Hosted by Peter Loshak

01.28.2015

SBRvideo reaches into the vault for a breakdown of Super Bowl Props by poster Justin7, hosted by SBR's Peter Loshak. Topics ranged from how sharp players take advantage of Vegas; when a line is ripe for the picking; and how not to be overexposed while still betting the props board. In Super Bowl Props Betting part II Justin7 covers opening odds, line movement, and when to find value. All Super Bowl props from online sportsbooks are listed on SBR's Super Bowl Prop Bet Directory.

Noteworthy excerpts:

"Props are just free money. It's retarded how much money the sportsbooks give away on the Super Bowl, it's like Christmas in February."

"It's a funny business. There are so many different things you can bet, you're going to tie up all your money, and the question then becomes not what should I bet, but how much should I bet on everything seeing that I'm going to spend my whole bankroll and then some."

"There's two different things that make sure you don't go bust when you're betting more money than you have. The first thing is you're betting anti-correlated props. I may bet a player over 240 yards and under 260 yards - obviously you can't lose that. But in many cases, you have tons and tons of negatively correlated prop bets. The second thing you do is what's called beta calculations for each prop. The game may go over or under your projected total, and the spread differential may be very different than what you think, but for every prop you have a beta related to those two things. So if you have a high correlation toward for example team A winning, if you do well when team A wins or horrible when they lose, you have to make sure you're not too exposed in any one area."

"If you bet a prop and say you bet it hard, say you bet 2% of your bankroll on a prop and it doesn't move, that means you screwed up. A mistake that a lot of newer players will make is they'll see a prop and bet it, and they'll keep betting it because they'll keep seeing the number they want and suddenly they'll have a huge position on something that's just mediocre.'
