Jordan Griffin has been busy gaining UFC experience while his opponent this weekend has been trailing behind.

Upon arrival to the UFC, Jordan Griffin has excelled versus the lower level opposition and managed to hold his own against the higher-ranked fighters. His two sole losses come against a pair of veterans, and Griffin was able to go the distance. As a BJJ practitioner, he’s already shown his ability to finish a fight via submission twice.

Youssef Zalal

  • Takedown Defended: 0%

At the end of the day

Jordan Griffin having the strength to finish a guillotine from side control of his back last time out, was ultra-impressive.

I do see plenty of holes in the game of Griffin, including his fundamental standing defensive efforts. I just sense an unproved and very green fighter. Zalal could give Griffin the type of exposure he needs to find a finish.

With that said, Zalal has proved his toughness. We’ve seen both men offer some high-level BJJ, at the same time watching them struggle off their back, Zalal more so than Griffin.

Griffin hasn’t been finished since 2014 while Zalal just isn’t a point fighter, with the current line sat favoring Griffin at some of the best bookmakers; I smell the value with the underdog.

Tanner Boser vs Phillip Lins

Saturday, June 27, 2020 – 10:35 PM EDT
UFC heavyweight bout

UFC odds for this fight

Tanner Boser

  • Age: 28
  • Nationality: Canada
  • Record: 17-6-0
  • Height: 6ft 2”
  • Reach: 75.5”
  • Gym: Shaved Bears MMA
  • Notable Gym Members: N/A
  • Current Streak: 1 loss
  • Wins by KO/TKO: 8
  • Wins by Submission: 2
  • Decision wins: 7

An unfortunate piece of matchmaking for Tanner Boser pitted him against the terrifying Ciryl Gane in his last bout. A 5-year stretch of avoiding defeat from a knockout or submission wasn’t looking hopeful of staying in-tact for Boser, but the tough Canadian proved his doubters wrong and put up a fight with Gane across the full fifteen minutes.

Boser is a former heavyweight champion and a black belt in Shito-Ryu Karate, his young & fresh heavyweight durability could take the 28-year-old heavyweight further than just a few scraps inside the UFC.

Philipe Lins

  • Age: 34
  • Nationality: Brazil
  • Record: 14-4-0
  • Height: 6ft 2”
  • Reach: 78”
  • Gym: American Top Team
  • Notable Gym Members: Jorge Masvidal, Dustin Poirier & Amanda Nunes
  • Current Streak: 1 loss
  • Wins by KO/TKO: 8
  • Wins by Submission: 4
  • Decision wins: 2

At the end of the day

Tanner Boser has made a career on fighting massive heavyweights, he couldn’t get the job done versus the high-level kickboxing of Gane, but I have slightly more confidence when he’s up against Lins.

Unlike most heavyweights, Boser is light on his feet and can switch stances anytime he feels like it. With his karate background, an extended position and striking at the range can suit the Canadian’s relaxed approach to fighting.

Lins is the current bookmaker’s favorite at -115, you won’t find Boser as a considerable underdog, but right now you can grab +100 that’s available at BetOnline. Remember to find the best odds using SBR Odds, finding value will dramatically affect your long-term betting investment.
