Record: 16-7

UFC 240 went almost exactly as predicted. Max Holloway retained his title by outclassing Frankie Edgar for a full 5 rounds to get his path back on track. Niko Price damn near finished Neal proving that we had value at the insane line the bookies were offering, but sadly he didn’t get it done in the end. Robertson was just as Savage as we expected her to be as she TKOd Frota in the second round giving us a nice little 2-1 week.

Next week the UFC heads to Newark where fan favorite and legend Robbie Lawler returns to face one of the most polarizing fighters in the UFC: Colby Chaos Covington. The best value I am finding on the card is not in the main event however. The undercard has a hidden gem where the UFC is killing a prospect for the sake of another.

Mickey Gall may have the best walk out song on the roster with “Hey Mickey’ but he just hasn’t developed as a fighter and cannot hang at the UFC level. He started his UFC run by calling out CM Punk and being gifted that fight. CM Punk who had never had an MMA fight in his life was Gall’s first UFC opponent and he easily won with a first round decision as you would expect. Gall then went on to choke out fellow “Dana White Lookin For a Fight’ find Sage Northcutt and it seemed like the UFC may have had something. Sage however had a massive hole in his ground game and that is Gall’s specialty. Oh and Gall is 15 pounds heavier than Northcutt. Gall then went on to lose to Randy Brown and Diego Sanchez and we cashed in nicely on both of those with his lone win coming against George Sullivan who is now losing on the regional scene. Gall’s only wins have come against opponents who don’t belong in the UFC and he really only has his BJJ as far as offensive options goes.

Salim Touahri on the other hand is a BJJ brown belt and Polish world champion which will allow him to be on the same level if not better than Gall in Gall’s best area. Not only that but he has BOMBS in his hands and can strike with the best. While Gall was hand fed easy matchups by the UFC Salim had to face Vets Warlley Alves and Keita nakamura who both would maul Gall and any of the opponents he’s faced in the UFC. Not only did Salim face a much higher level of competition, but he fought very well and closely against both. I see Salim TKOing Gall in R2.
