Kevin Holland vs. Marvin Vettori

UFC Middleweight Main Event Bout

Saturday, April 10th, 2021 – 10:00 PM EDT – Live from the UFC Apex Center

Marvin Vettori (16-3-1)

Marvin Vettori has been dreaming of UFC gold from an early age, initially joining a kickboxing gym aged thirteen, fast forward now aged 27 he’s the number 6th ranked middleweight of the UFC.

A fierce all-around martial artist, Vettori spent his early training days travelling through his beautiful country of Italy in search of a complete MMA skill set. Once achieved, he became known for his work rate and willingness to learn new skills worldwide.

Since joining the UFC, Vettori is well known for giving current champion Israel Adesanya one of his toughest challenges to date.

Kevin Holland (21-6-0)

If you claim to be a fan of martial arts and are still unaware of the name ‘Kevin Holland’, I can only assume you live under a rock. Most known for his flamboyant & outlandish personality, it’s easy to forget how talented ‘Trailblazer’ really is.

A significant boost in the UFC rankings after his successive knockout victory over former title challenger Jacare Souza has put Holland in the position to fight the division's elite. An unfortunate loss to Derek Brunson a mere three weeks ago, and we already see the eagerness of Holland to step inside the octagon as a short-notice replacement of Darren Till.

Holland’s first meeting with a top 10 calibre of an opponent in Derek Brunson gave a clear indication he was ill-prepared for this level of a matchup, but can ‘The Trailblazer’ prove us wrong this weekend?

How Can Holland Win?

Holland has proved to critics he has the knockout power, and he has proved to the masses he’s capable of submitting the opposition – the problems he faces are with a lack of experience at the highest level of the sport.

I think it will take some significant mistakes on behalf of Vettori for Holland to pick up a victory this Saturday evening. But this is the sport of MMA, and that possibility is higher than what you might believe.

How Can Vettori Win?

In my humble opinion, this is Vettori’s fight to lose, and only his incompetence inside the cage can cost him a loss this weekend.

We have witnessed a more calculated and patient version of Vettori in his recent bouts. Should Holland overexert himself during this contest, ‘The Italian Dream’ will make him pay for it.

Excellent footwork & defence in the standup area; we can also credit Vettori for his evolved takedown defence and heavy top game whilst grounded.

Vettori vs. Holland Betting Odds Advice

The current odds are heavily favoring Vettori. We should not be surprised at these numbers; he holds the advantage on the feet and the ground, with his most significant potential loss coming from his own mistakes versus Holland.

Holland is a dangerous man, but Vettori is the more refined & polished fighter of the two. We witnessed Holland talk throughout the entire five rounds against Derek Brunson, something he may want to give up on when facing the best of the division.

I’m rarely willing to pay up on fighters' juiced prices, and the value in Vettori was sat at his opening price of -210, now jumping 100 points. And with that said, I think both men's durability should see this contest exceed the first two rounds to find any decent value worth betting.
