Well-renowned for his scary knockout power and loveable personality, ‘The Black Beast’ Derrick Lewis will return to the octagon this weekend and will be looking for his third consecutive win.

Currently ranked fourth in the heavyweight division, Lewis brings a boxing game into the octagon that has put his professional record at eighteen career knockouts – the word ‘powerful’ is an understatement.

If you thought Derrick Lewis held an impressive knockout record then how about Alexey Oleynik and his forty-eight wins by submission! A former Russian Sambo Champion and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black-belt have made Oleynik one of the best submission artists in UFC history.

It’s few and far between when discussing which martial artists can perform the unique and rare Ezekiel choke submission, but Oleynik has made quite the name for himself with the high-level choke-hold.

At the End of the Day

It’s never an easy task when making clean-cut predictions on the heavyweight division, simply because one-punch implications become common amongst men weighing over 220 pounds. And it doesn’t become more manageable when you have two of the best finishers in the division.

However, the bookmaker has put all their trust in Derrick Lewis which leaves an under-valued betting line on Oleynik. Sometimes making a prediction is nothing more than a play on numbers and this week a fighter with over 40 submissions on his record is gifting us a 2/1 price.

Derrick Lewis will be head-hunting while Oleynik will have nothing else other than a takedown in mind. I’ll take my chances with the grappling prowess of Oleynik, and I hope we get to see another unorthodox jiu-jitsu finish from the Russian. I like Alexey Oleynik +200 at BetOnline. Yana Kunitskaya vs. Julija Stoliarenko

Saturday, August 08, 2020 - 09:35 PM EDT

Yana Kunitskaya

Age: 30

Nationality: Russian

Record: 12-5-0

Height: 5ft 6”

Reach: 68.5”

Gym: Xtreme Couture

Notable Gym Members: Justin Gaethje, Francis Ngannou & Joseph Benavidez

Current Streak: 1 loss

Wins by KO/TKO: 7

Wins by Submission: 1

Decision wins: 4

Former Invicta Bantamweight Champion Yana Kunitskaya will be looking to find her first finish inside a UFC octagon when she welcomes newcomer Julija Stoliarenko.

The natural 145lb fighter in Yana usually brings a size advantage to a lot of her fights in the 135-pound division and is currently 2-2 since joining the UFC. A lack of aggression and perhaps a few humbling encounters may have affected the confidence of Yana.

Julija Stoliarenko

Age: 29

Nationality: Lithuania

Record: 9-3-2

Height: 5ft 7”

Reach: 66”

Gym: Fighter House

Notable Gym Members: N/A

Current Streak: 5 wins

Wins by KO/TKO: 0

Wins by Submission: 8

Decision wins: 1

Julija Stoliarenko will make her UFC debut on nine days’ notice. The current Invicta Bantamweight Champion has seized the opportunity to make the UFC debut she once came close too; as a former competitor of ‘The Ultimate Fighter: Heavy Hitters’ reality television show.

The arm-bar queen already has seven career wins by submission, and yes each submission was an arm-bar.

The Prediction

Watching the aggressive nature of Julija gives me confidence that the current betting line doesn’t match her chances this weekend. If the fight hits the ground just once, it’s hard not to anticipate a barrage of submission attempt’s from Julija as she does in all of her contests.

UFC odds for this contest are favoring Yana, as expected. But in a competition where the striking level of each fighter is equal, and the grappling is lob-sided, I have to pay attention to the debutant. I'm taking Julija Stoliarenko +205 at BetOnline. (Visit our BetOnline Review).
