Jack Hermansson vs. Kevin Holland
Saturday, December 5, 2020 – 09:35 PM EST at the UFC Apex
Jack Hermansson (21-5-0)
Jack Hermansson has been kicking ass and cashing cheques inside a UFC octagon for nearly five years. With an 8-3 record, Hermansson has been competing against the worlds most elite middleweights and has suffered no embarrassing losses. Born and raised in Sweden, the martial arts journey began on the wrestling mats for Hermansson. Since the age of 9, he had begun competing in Greco Roman Wrestling – finally making the switch to mixed martial arts in his teenage years.
As a professional fighter for over a decade, Hermansson's skillset is capable of making a title run in the UFC, and Darren Till was his ticket into the race. Unfortunately, injury has prevented Till competing, and now Hermansson will welcome a newcomer into the deep waters of the UFC middleweight division.
Kevin Holland (14-2-0)
Kevin Holland, also known as 'The Trail-blazer', is living up to the nickname – since May 2020, he's competed four times in the UFC and won three of those bouts inside the distance (one by decision). A win over Jack Hermansson this weekend would make it five wins in one year; this would match the UFC record of five fights in one year. The incredible work rate of Holland could put him in title contention, and with the vast experience, large size, youth advantage, and finishing ability, It wouldn't be a surprise either.
Within two years of fighting for the UFC, Holland has consumed all the experience possible by accepting every fight available. He's now competed ten times for the ufc, with a mere two losses against tough opposition in Thiago Santos & Brenden Allen. The future is bright for Kevin Holland, a professional fighter as of 2015 it's hard to accept how damn good Holland is with five years pro experience. Within that time, he's catapulted himself into the limelight.
UFC in Vegas 16: Hermansson vs. Holland Early Prediction
How Can Hermansson Win?
It's rare for Jack Hermansson to give up size, but the striking advantage could lay with his opponent this weekend – based on the size discrepancy. With that said, I think Hermansson should favor himself in the grappling department anyway. A plan of attack to drag Holland across twenty-five minutes would likely be the viable route.
I am not claiming that Hermansson is the lesser striker of the two, but I'd be hesitant facing the knockout power of the young Kevin Holland. Hermansson will no doubt have the grappling advantage and will be hunting for the submission finish.
How Can Holland Win?
A man of many talents, I anticipate the 28-year-old Kevin Holland to enter with confidence in all areas. A mixture of both knockouts and submissions since debuting in the UFC, it's not easy to pick faults with him. I believe Holland's best opportunity to win is through a knockout or submission, and I favor the skillset of Hermansson winning a decision. Holland should want to avoid going five rounds with a UFC vet.
Hermansson vs. Holland Betting Odds Advice
The bookmaker's current odds are in a dog or pass situation for me, and I am not interested in betting Hermansson as a heavy favorite with my UFC picks. I anticipate this fight to end inside the distance and given the evenly matched contest; I am happy to make this my final prediction.
