After a phenomenal two back-to-back UFC events, the UFC and president Dana White aren’t finished yet. We have another 12 fights lined up for this weekend with plenty of fight odds available for us to delve into some parlay betting picks for UFC Fight Night, live this Saturday on ESPN.
Giga Chikadze vs. Mike Davis
Saturday, May 16, 2020 – 09:05 PM EDT
Featherweight new-comer Mike Davis has been settling into the division after making his UFC debut against welterweight title challenger Gilbert Burns. And although losing via submission in the second round, Davis proved to us he has a huge amount of potential moving forward in his career.
In his second UFC outing, Davis ripped Thomas Gifford to the body and dished out punishment for 3 rounds until the eventual TKO was presented. Back in the win column, Davis will now face a caliber of opponent suiting his trajectory in Giga Chikadze.
Giga has a small MMA record but is a former K-1 World Champion and has held countless championships in Karate and Muay Thai.
He holds two wins inside the UFC octagon but it should be noted, both fights were very close split decisions.
His karate background and wide stance make well for a good striking base and his elusive movement can sometimes make him a hard target to hit.
At the End of the Day
I have to side with the speed of Davis in this one, I think he possesses more of a threat in the knockout department and will pressure Giga onto his back foot.
The American Top Team prospect in Mike Davis made his debut against a welterweight title challenger and held his own, that result speaks volumes.
Both men are quite large for the division but Davis should have the wider frame and be able to control clinch and grappling exchanges. I expect him to be the more explosive and faster of the two and may even land the nice 1 -2 combo finish again.
Angela Hill vs. Claudia Gadelha
Saturday, May 16, 2020 – 11:35 PM EDT
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt and number 6th ranked UFC strawweight, Claudia Gadelha, will be hunting for her second straight win this weekend when she faces fierce Muay Thai striker, Angela Hill.
Gadelha has defeated and come up short against some of the best female fighters in the world, almost reaching the gold but couldn’t quite make it. An impressive resume and a strong grappling base, Gadelha poses as a threat to anyone in the division.
Former Invicta strawweight champion, Angela Hill, the late-career resurgence from Hill is evident in her 3 fight win streak. Continuing to impress as she ages, the experience is reigning supreme for the former kickboxer.
A win against a 6th ranked Gadelha would be huge for Hill, as she’s unranked and it would almost certainly put her in the top ten of the division, so Angie ‘Overkill’ Hill has everything to fight for.
At the End of the Day
I believe this fight will boil down to the game plan, and it’s obvious that Gadelha needs to implement her grappling offense to secure the win. Sure, she could stand and exchange with Hill and maybe even catch her with power-hook combo, but Hill’s only advantage is on the feet, so avoiding the point-fighting Hill in the stand-up should be the priority.
Gadelha doesn’t grapple in all of her contests but I’m confident that she’s smart enough to avoid a striking battle with a former kickboxer and Muay Thai practitioner.
If she does decide to strike with Hill for some time, I don’t expect it to last long unless she can get on the inside with some power strikes and cause Hill to fight off her back foot, which she doesn’t tend to enjoy whilst getting hit. Gadelha is technical, throws faints, nice jabs but just doesn’t match up to the level of striking that Hill provides, so her only hope would to run through Hill and avoid the Muay Thai clinch.
The blueprint to beat Hill is there and Gadelha is more than capable, I don’t enjoy -200 but this price fits perfect for our parlay. This week’s final betting prediction for the ‘punching parlay’ will be Claudia Gadelha.
