Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black-belt and former champion in multiple promotions, 'Livinha' Livia Renata Souza will make a return after a year on the side-lines.

After suffering her first loss in the UFC, Souza can benefit from the added time away from the octagon with a focused game plan and full recovery.

Don't let the 7-5 professional record scare you away from Ashley Yoder. Her previous fight saw a lucky split-decision victory in favour of her opponent Randa Markos, and I scored the fight in support of Yoder, and the decision could've gone either way. Before this, her only other losses have come up against stiff opposition in Angela Hill and Mackenzie Dern.

At the End of the Day

The opening line of Ashley Yoder (+190) has quickly moved to +130, and for a good reason, in a grappler versus grappler style matchup, there's no denying the opening line should have been a lot closer.

Souza presents a dangerous submission threat, but against the top-heavy wrestling offence of Yoder, I think the American can prevail through another closely fought decision.

With the odds taking such a dramatic hit from the betting public, I see a three-round fight no matter what the outcome may-be so taking Yoder to win by decision is holding the higher value similar to the opening line. Yes, I understand the risk, but if the fight was to end inside the distance, I believe Souza would be the candidate for this outcome. The play I like for my UFC picks is Ashley Yoder to win by decision +160 at BetOnline. (Visit our BetOnline Review).

Jim Miller vs. Vinc Pichel

Saturday, August 15, 2020 - 09:35 PM EDT at UFC Apex in Las Vegas

Jim Miller

  • Age: 36
  • Nationality: American
  • Record: 32-14-0
  • Height: 5ft 8”
  • Reach: 71"
  • Gym: Miller Brothers MMA
  • Notable Gym Members: N/A
  • Current Streak: 1 win
  • Wins by KO/TKO: 4
  • Wins by Submission: 18
  • Decision wins: 10

Future UFC Hall of Famer and gatekeeper into the UFC's lightweight top 15 rankings Jim Miller will make his third appearance in the location this weekend. Aged thirty-six, the NCAA Division I wrestling champion isn't putting the brakes on during his older-aged fighting years.

After making quick work of top prospect Roosevelt Roberts back in June, Miller will now face a more seasoned fighter in Vinc Pichel. Still, it should be noted; Miller has an excellent record against opponents in or around his age group.

Vinc Pichel

  • Age: 37
  • Nationality: American
  • Record: 12-2-0
  • Height: 5ft 10”
  • Reach: 72"
  • Gym: House of Champions
  • Notable Gym Members: N/A
  • Current Streak: 1 win
  • Wins by KO/TKO: 8
  • Wins by Submission: 0
  • Decision wins: 4

Vinc Pichel has undoubtedly shown glimpses of greatness during his UFC tenure, but a lack of activity hasn't played in his favour. After six years spent under the UFC banner, he's only fought six times, and with a mixture in competition, it's been hard to gauge where his future lies.

The Prediction

Vinc Pichel will be looking to keep this fight on the feet; the dangerous grappling offence from Jim Miller is some of the best in the division. If you aren't ready for a high-level black belt who also happens to be a former NCAA wrestling champion, you could be in for a long night.

UFC odds for this contest are favouring Vinc by a small margin; I'm happy to take Miller as the slight-underdog in a fight where his skills are above that of his opponents.
