Aspen Ladd vs. Norma Dumont

Saturday, October 16, 2021 - 09:05 PM EDT

Aspen Ladd

Aspen Ladd is an American mixed martial artist currently ranked #3 in the UFC women’s bantamweight division and #10 in the UFC women’s pound-for-pound rankings.

Ladd began her professional career fighting for Invicta FC after compiling an 8-1 record, which included 6 finishes. In her debut, she was originally scheduled to fight against Kristi Lopez, but Lopez suffered an injury and was replaced by Ana Carolina Vidal. Ladd won via TKO in the first round.

In July 2017, Ladd signed with the UFC and was scheduled to debut against Jessica Eye. Ladd fell ill the day off so the bout was cancelled and pushed back to October 2017 against Lina Lansberg. Ladd won via TKO in the second round.

All accomplishments include: UFC Performance of the Night (one time) and UFC Fight of the Night (one time).

Norma Dumont

Norma Dumont is a Brazilian mixed martial artist making her fourth UFC appearance this Saturday.

At 19 years old, Dumont began training in MMA and became a six-time Sanda State Champion and National Champion of Sanda.

Dumont put together a 4-0 record before making her promotional UFC debut in February against Megan Anderson; she lost via knockout in the first round. In her second UFC bout, she competed against Ashlee Evans-Smith and won via unanimous decision.

Prediction

The current Odds at your Top Sportsbooks for this main event are: Aspen Ladd -130 and Nora Dumont +130.

Aspen Ladd is a dangerous striker that has been outside of the octagon for two years. Ladd was originally scheduled to fight at UFC Vegas 38 against Macy Chiasson, but nearly collapsed at the scales from cutting weight.

That aside, she has 6 wins by T/KO, 1 by Submission, and 2 decisions, with 1 loss by T/KO. That one loss was against Germaine de Ranamie in July 2019 and lost by T/KO in the first round. She redeemed herself in 2019 with a win against Yana Kuniskaya by T/KO in the third.

Norma Dumont does pose a big threat. She has 1 professional loss from her UFC debut against Megan Anderson where she lost via KO in the first round.  Her most recent win against Felicia Spencer was impressive.

The dog odds on Spencer are more promising and I think two weeks is not enough time for Ladd to recover, make weight, and prepare for a new fighter.

UFC Pick: Norma Dumont +110
