UFC 239 was a massive success and the week ahead looks like fun
UFC 239 was absolutely insane with action on every single fight and we went 4-1 cashing in on BIG dogs like Jan Blachowicz and Jones by decision at +380. The Jan fight is especially fulfilling for me because in my December 2018 article one of my 2019 predictions was Rockhold not finding success at 205. Our pockets are full, but we have no time to sit back fat and happy because there is a ton of MMA action on the horizon.
Starting with Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series on 7/9/2019 we have a great appetizer of fights when young up and comers try to fight their way onto the big stage. And this is who is on the card:
There aren’t any lines out for the Contender Series, so I cannot give any official pics at this point, but I will be very interested in Hunter Azure who fights out of the MMA Lab and is 6-0. He is the one I am most interested in on the card thus far and I will be keeping an eye out for a playable line.
The world has righted itself and thankfully we won’t have to split screen time between Bellator and the UFC trying to go head to head this week. Bellator gives us something to do on Friday with a card headlined with a women’s title fight between Julia Budd (12-2) vs Olga Rubin (6-0) that should be a banger. It looks like a slightly lower level event for the undercard, but I dont hate that. Honestly the cards with a slightly lower tier of MMA can be the most fun. You get young studs who can shine against similarly leveled competition and a trend I notice is that younger fighters get their offense going, but aren’t there defensively so you get to see lots of finishes, which is good TV.
Finally, Saturday the UFC returns to Sacramento California and they are bringing back Cali’s favorite son Urijah Faber fresh out of retirement to face 15-1 Ricky Simon. This is a fun card filled with underrated fights and good spots we can get into a bit later in the week. The card is headlined by what must be a #1 contender fight between former champion Germaine de Randamie (8-3) and Aspen Ladd (8-0). The card sees other action fighters return such as Josh Emmett, Drakkar Klose, Karl Roberson, Sheymon Moraes, Darren Alkins, and Benito Lopez. Needless to say, this is going to be an entertaining card though it may lack name value. It will be on ESPN+ so for just a $5.99 subscription you’ll have access to this card that may not be worthy of a PPV $59.99 but will be MORE than worth your $5.99 and we will do our best to help you make some cash on it! Keep an eye out for our picks this week.
