The second most prestigious trophy in all of football will deliver silverware for one of Europe’s most domineering squads after the postponement of the tournament last year. European International squads have fought their way through qualification stages to reach the pinnacle of international soccer amongst Europe’s finest.

Twenty-four teams will faceoff across 51 fixtures, with 12 different cities playing host. The festivities will begin on Friday the 11th of June, and the highly anticipated finals will take place at Wembley Stadium, England.

Turkey vs. Italy

Friday, 11th June, 2021 – 08:00 PM Kick-Off at Stadio Olimpico

Kicking of the Euro 2021 tournament will see Group A’s most favorable teams qualify go head-to-head. Turkey and Italy are set out to be a thrilling encounter, as both squads have provided a high-quality of soccer during their respective campaigns.

Group A

  • Italy hasn’t lost any of their previous 21 fixtures.
  • Italy has avoided defeat at halftime in their previous 15 matches.
  • Italy has won seven away games consecutively whilst maintaining a clean sheet.
  • Italy’s previous nine matches have all provided under 2.5 goals.
  • Turkey is undefeated in nine of their previous 10 home fixtures.

Italy and Roberto Mancini

We shouldn’t be surprised to see Group A’s Italy as favorites to finish first in their group. Starman Ciro Immobile will be the frontline of attack, as Italy will dictate the possession and pace of the game as the best sportsbooks watch the Turks attempt to capitalize through counterattacks for most of the game.

After an embarrassing 2018, World Cup attempt under Gian Piero, the former Lazio, Manchester City, and Inter Milan manager Roberto Mancini will be looking to avenge Italy’s absence from the World Cup as he has done during the Euro 20/21 qualifiers. An almost perfect qualification setting saw Mancini lead Squadra Azzura to an excellent record of 10 wins from 10 games; in addition, they conceded a mere four goals.

Turkey and Şenol Güneş

Turkey’s previous attempt at defeating a dangerous squad was successful, finishing in second place behind France; they could defeat the group leaders (2-0) and book their place for Euro 20/21.

Ligue 1 star Burak Yilmaz will be looking to impress betting sites as he did during qualifiers, but facing Italy in Rome may prove the Turks most challenging task in recent years. The up-and-coming talents of Turkey, such as Cengiz Under and Merih Demiral, could also be difference makers in Turkey’s progression this summer – with some motivated youngsters looking to impress. It’s no secret that Turkey’s defense is their strong point, and I anticipate them to deliver a few clean sheets during the group stages.

Final Thoughts| Euro 2021 Betting Picks

During their World Cup Qatar 2022 qualifications, it was an impressive style of play that landed them with two wins and one draw. I predict this form will roll over into their Euro 2021 clashes. The problem for Turkey will be facing the overly confident Italian squad in the first game of the competition. Should Italy dominate as critics expect, it could be a massive knock in confidence for Şenol Güneş and his team.

The re-birth of Italian soccer is prominent; during their previous three outings, it has been a 2-0 scorecard in favor of Italy versus Bulgaria, Latvia, and Northern Ireland. The Italians undefeated streak has remained strong since 2018 and the arrival of Mancini, which is why the bookmaker’s odds are heavily favoring them.

Not only do I believe Italy will dominate Group A, but their chances of winning the trophy should also be heavily favored. At odds of +1300, Italy to win the Euros could be worth a punt, but we should focus on a low-scoring affair with the Azzurri coming out on top for the first fixture of the tournament.
