Tottenham vs. Manchester City Odds, Picks, Predictions: Will Kane Rule Over Haaland in North London?

These two teams met over two weeks ago when Tottenham gave up a 2-0 lead at halftime to lose 4-2. It closed the gap on Premier League leaders Arsenal to five points for City. The Spurs bounced back from that result with a win over Fulham in the London derby. Read on for our top Tottenham-Man City pick for Sunday’s match. 

Man City striker Erling Haaland scored his fourth league triple of the season last weekend, just the third player in Premier League history to score four hat-tricks in a single campaign, alongside Alan Shearer and Harry Kane. Kane is one goal off breaking the all-time scoring record for the Spurs; a goal also takes his tally to 200 in the competition. Only Alan Shearer and Wayne Rooney scored 200+ Premier League goals. 

City know they’ll face a tough test Sunday. They’ve lost their last three away league games at the Spurs by an aggregate score of 5-0.

Tottenham vs. Manchester City Odds Analysis

Tottenham are big underdogs at home to the reigning champions. Their price is as high as +340 at DraftKings, FanDuel and Caesars, which could reflect the Spurs’ home form. They’ve lost four of their last five Premier League home matches and conceded at least twice in all five of those. The best price for City is -135 at DraftKings, FanDuel and PointsBet.

Haaland scored four in his last two Premier League games, including a goal against Tottenham. If you fancy the league’s top scorer to find the net against a home side that leaks goals, the best price for Haaland anytime scorer is -120 at FanDuel. This is great value compared to other main books. PointsBet has the next best price at -150. Caesars is priced as low as -187.

Tottenham can’t keep clean sheets at home. They’ve also struggled to stop multiple goals being scored against them at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. The Spurs will focus on containing Haaland, which could free up space for City’s other attackers.

Man City winger Riyad Mahrez scored three goals in his last four Premier League matches, including two goals and an assist against Tottenham last month. Mahrez was involved in more Premier League goals against the Spurs (11) than any other opponent (7 goals, 4 assists).

Tottenham are too vulnerable defensively to stop a multiple goal run against them at home in the Premier League. No team scored more goals than City in the competition this season, and their goals can come from anywhere. This could be another perfect spot for Mahrez against the Spurs.

Tottenham Hotspur are so unpredictable, it’s difficult to make a play on the result, especially as Manchester City slipped up in recent weeks. Haaland’s value is so low, he’s almost as unplayable as a bet, as he is for defenders. I like Mahrez in this spot. Some players seem to thrive against certain teams, and his is definitely Tottenham. 

Now that they’re into the season's second half, City know there’s little room for error, if they’re to keep pressure on Arsenal in the title race. Tottenham isn’t a team that sides can beat 1-0. With the threat of Kane, opponents must score multiple goals to get a result, which they’ve done. Unless it’s Kane or Haaland, I can’t put four stars on this play, but I'm confident enough in Mahrez to make this my best pick because of his record and the Spurs’ defensive issues.
