The expectations for a super leveled season in Serie A are all respected. In four weeks so far there has been a different leader in each round: Inter, Lazio, Roma, Napoli. But the latter is the first one to be solitary top of the table. There has been a clear underdog: Fiorentina. And so Fiorentina vs. Inter is full of interest.

Fiorentina vs. Inter

Tuesday, September 21, 2021 - 02:45 PM EDT at Stadio Franchi

Fiorentina was the biggest underachiever last year, and coming from years of disappointment in a row. There was the feeling that with new young coach Italiano the things could finally click, but what do we know with Fiorentina, always able to let fans down. And instead, Italiano really seems to have made it, and so quickly.

Everything starts with Fiorentina president Commisso's decision to actually turn down an $85m bid from Atletico for Vlahovic, and then the positive thinking has invested the rest of the club, with the team being able even to go to Bergamo and dictate the game against Atalanta, something just never believed possible only 4 months ago! On the other side, Inter surprised everyone for the mentality: the killer instinct is still missing, the one developed last year by Lukaku, as seen against Sampdoria and Real Madrid.

But exactly against Real Madrid, and then against Bologna where it was easier to get distracted, Inter were able to come out on the pitch and make the game with no fear and a vision that is starting to put pieces in places. In the end, the mentality is all that counts, and Inter showed their full competitiveness. Fiorentina are very very hard to handle, hungry and ambitious, and with no pressure, in fact, losing to Inter would be part of normality, there Viola is free to play with nothing to hold back for the fear of committing any mistake.

It should be an open and entertaining game, which for some not logical reason it has always been for any Fiorentina vs. Inter in the past.

Torino vs. Lazio

Thursday, September 23, 2021 - 12:30 PM EDT at Stadio Grande Torino

Torino as Fiorentina, was the big disappointment of last season, always changing managers and always failing. But as Fiorentina too, this season they went for a tactical project clearly proactive and they got rewarded. Juric making miracles, many saying that Torino never played so good in the last 4 years as in the last 2 games, and seems that the miracle created by Juric in Verona can be repeated again.

Lazio had to backtrack from initial glimpses of Sarriball, and all the past defensive failures are now much more underlined as the defense is totally exposed. But still, Lazio got a single quality player that would win any mismatch.

Salernitana vs. Verona

Wednesday, September 22, 2021 - 12:30 PM EDT at Stadio Arechi

Salernitana looks clearly of a lower category, and the football proposal of their manager Castori endorsing a catenaccio from an older era is just not doing any favor to their cause. Verona had the usual boost by replacing poor bastard Di Francesco with Igor Tudor, and actually, the reaction was beyond any optimism by beating leaders AS Roma. The same motivation won't be found against Salernitana, eager to get at least their first point, but Verona could adjust to a silly boring game where the two decide not to hurt each other.
