Atalanta and Inter set up final-round battle for second place.

Atalanta vs. Inter

Saturday, August 1, 2020

This is by far the most expected game of the final round in the Italian top-flight league. Both teams will be gunning to finish 2nd in the standings being separated by just 1 point (Inter: 79 Atalanta: 78). For both teams, this is a must-win game because, in case of a draw and if Lazio beats Napoli, Biancocelesti will finish 2nd. We are talking about the best-attacking sides in Serie A, Atalanta scored 98 and Inter netted 79 goals in 37 fixtures.

Atalanta have never finished second in Serie A but they have improved immensely over the last 4 seasons under Gian Piero Gasperini. Atalanta have already scored 7 goals in a single game three times in Serie A; for the 2nd year in a row, they will finish the domestic league as top scorers. Ruslan Malinovski (midfielder) scored 5 goals from outside the box this season, more than any other player from the top 5 European leagues in 2020.

Atalanta rely on their well-constructed diamonds in wide areas and man to man pressing. Their attacking firepower is just top-notch. They have the brain from the middle, Papu Gomez, Josip Ilicic, one of the best pivots in Europe and 2 superb strikers, Duvan Zapata and Luis Muriel who are scoring goals for fun.

The 2 teams are involved in the European Cup. Atalanta will play Paris Saint-Germain on August 12 in the Champions League quarter-finals in Lisbon while Inter Milan will host Getafe next week for the 1st leg of the Europa League last 16.

Conte said that finishing 2nd in Serie A would have no significance for him and that “History is written by the winners” and you might expect him to rest some of his keys players because between the match against Atalanta and the UEL 1st leg against Getafe there are just 4 days.

It should be an exciting match with both teams showing their attacking power. It’s tough to predict a winner so we are just touching the goals-market.

Juventus vs AS Roma

Saturday, August 1, 2020

I’m sorry for Juventus’ fans but their favorites don’t deserve the title. They look very weak right now and they enter this match on the back of 2-0 defeat to Cagliari. No strategy, very tired, wrong body language… just average. Juventus are the only champions in the European top 5 leagues with the worst attack in top 4. Atalanta, Inter and Lazio have scored more goals than Juventus.

Cristiano Ronaldo's hopes of finishing the season as top scorer in Italy's Serie A vanished as he failed to find the back of the net against Cagliari. In fact, Ronaldo scored almost half of Juventus’s goals (31 from 75) and 12 of them were from penalty kicks.

On the other side, AS Roma will surely finish 5th in the standings and avoid the Europa League qualification rounds having little to play in this final round clash.

The 2 sides have European commitments with both playing next week, Juventus at home against Lyon in Champions League (they lost 1-0 in France), and AS Roma will travel to play Sevilla in Europa League.

We will probably see a huge squad rotation from both managers so it’s really tough to predict who will win this game. Juventus opened at -130 at 5Dimes but they are now underdogs on their turf as they are priced at +190. A Draw game priced at +320 is the most logical bet to take so we will add it to our Soccer Picks with a small stake.
