Lazio determined to extend their winning streak
Torino, who finished 7th last season are now just 6 points above the danger zone losing more than half of their games this term (15 in 28). As we said on the Serie A show last week, their 1-0 win against Udinese was lucky. They immediately “bounced back” losing 4-2 to Cagliari last weekend being without Simone Zaza, injured. Their next two fixtures are against Lazio and Juventus and we don’t expect them to win points. They will still be without the services of Simone Zaza and Daniele Baselli meaning that coach Moreno Longo will play Simone Verdi next to Torino’s top scorer Andrea Belotti.
On the other side, Lazio failed to secure a 2-goal lead 2 rounds ago against Atalanta losing 3-2 but they returned to winning ways last weekend beating Fiorentina 2-1 on their turf with Ciro Immobile and Luis Alberto scoring the 2 goals. Lazio recorded a 4-0 victory in the reverse fixtures with Immobile scoring a brace. He’s still leading the top-scorers chart with 28 goals netted in 28 games. Lazio are trailing Juve by 4 points and they can’t afford to drop points if they want to maintain their title hopes alive. Joaquin Correa is expected to start alongside Immobile after playing just 23 minutes against Fiorentina.
We should see an entertaining match with Lazio eager to make it 2 wins in a row and maintain the pressure on leaders Juventus.
Atalanta = Goals. If last season they finished as top scorers with 77 goals, this term they already scored 80 goals with 10 games to go till the end of the season. They will be looking to extend their 3-game winning run since the restart. They are sitting 4th in the standings 9 points clear of 5th-placed AS Roma who lost last weekend 2-0 to AC Milan. It is shaping up to be another season to remember for Atalanta who qualified in the Champions League quarter-finals on their 1st appearance and they will definitely finish in top 4 and earned a UCL spot for the 2nd season in a row. They are one of the most exciting teams to watch in the top 5 European leagues and they have a superb attacking display in every single match.
On the other side, Napoli are in fine form since the Italian top-flight league restarted, they won both domestic games scoring 5 goals in the process and they are still fighting for a top 4 finish. The gap is huge (12 points behind 4th-placed Atalanta) but with a win here they will go at 9 p with 9 games to go till the end of the season. Two weeks ago, they won Coppa Italia beating Juventus on penalties, so their confidence is at high levels. They are 1 month away from the 2nd Champions League last-16 leg against Barcelona so Gennaro Gattuso will try to rotate his squad and have all his players ready for that important clash. Gattuso’s forwards are all scoring: Milik and Lozano against Verona, Mertens, and Callejon against Spal. On top of that their top defender Kalidou Koulibaly is in fine form since returning from injury.
Let’s not even touch the winners-market because this is the type of game that can go either way. With both teams being in top shape and scoring goals for fun, for our soccer picks we expect at least 3 goals in the game.
Extra Pick: Bologna vs Cagliari Both teams to score at -135
