Parma vs. Napoli
Sunday, September 20, 2020 – 06:30 AM EDT at Stadio Ennio Tardini
The Italian top-flight league is set to kick-off this weekend with just 7 games. Benevento vs. Inter, Udinese vs. Spezia, and Lazio vs. Atalanta are postponed due to the short period between the end of the season and the beginning of the new one for Inter, Atalanta, and Spezia.
The start is really challenging for all the players and teams. In Italy, they’ve been adapting to the 'new normal' as fans return to the stadiums. We look forward to the new season and believe it will be an exciting championship with many teams fighting for the title.
New Napoli signing Victor Osimhen, in a club-record fee of $82 million which could rise to $90 million with bonuses, is expected to be benched against Parma. Coach Gennaro Gattuso was unable to test him out as the friendly game against Sporting CP was canceled at the last minute after the Portuguese giants had several coronavirus positive tests.
Arkadiusz Milik did not participate in group training this week as he’s getting closer to a move to AS Roma later this month. Yes, we must be careful and check all the news because the transfer window is still open for another 3 weeks. Napoli have reportedly negotiating Gerard Deulofeu transfer from Watford (England, Championship).
On the other side, Parma lost their most important player, Dejan Kulusevski, kept on loan till the end of the last season after signing last year with the reigning champs, Juventus. Parma managed to transform many loanees to permanent deals: Roberto Inglese, Alberton Grassi, and Luigi Sepe from Napoli, Yann Karamoh from Inter, Giuseppe Pezzella from Udinese, and Hernani from Zenit St. Petersburg.
Gattuso will play a 4-3-3 formation with Dries Mertens flanked by Matteo Politano and Lorenzo Insigne, a deadly trio. When Victor Osimhen will be ready to make his debut, Gattuso will have to adapt and change the formation to 4-2-3-1.
It won’t be easy for Napoli to beat Parma, who played above expectations last season. But Napoli love the attacking teams like Parma and will probably win this match. But we also expect Parma to find the back of the net so over 2.5 goals in on the menu.
AC Milan vs Bologna
Monday, September 21, 2020 - 02:45 PM EDT at San Siro
AC Milan will be looking to make a flying start to their domestic campaign winning their season opener against Bologna. The club was active this summer on the transfer market signing Sandro Tonali from Brescia, Alexis Saelemaekers from Anderlecht, Simon Kjaer from Sevilla, Brahim Diaz from Real Madrid, Pierre Kalulu from Lyon B, and Ciprian Tatarusanu from Lyon.
On top of that coach, Stefano Pioli confirmed Zlatan Ibrahimovic has ‘fully recovered’ and is ready to kick off the season in style. The hosts are determined to build on the momentum they had created in the second half of the 2019-20 season. They’ve turned their stadium into a real fortress, and we expect them to beat Bologna.
On the other side, Bologna finished 12th in the standings, 12 points above the danger zone but the end of the season was very disappointing for Siniša Mihajlović and Co.
They managed to keep Musa Barrow and Riccardo Orsolini, their most important players, last season. Unfortunately, for the clash against AC Milan they will be without right-back, Takehiro Tomiyasu, injured.
