La Liga Matchday 16 Predictions

Barcelona-Betis – Both Teams to score & Under 5.5 (-111)

Barcelona have been galvanized by the arrival of club legend Xavi, who recently replaced Ronald Koeman as manager.

They are up to seventh in the standings after beating Espanyol 1-0 and Villarreal 3-1 in their last two league games.

Yet, Barca still trail Real Betis by four points. Betis have also secured back-to-back La Liga wins, beating Elche 3-0 and Levante 3-1.

This will be a clash between two confident teams, with lots of high-quality attackers on the pitch, so we should see both teams score. However, none of Betis’ games have topped 5.5 goals so far this season, and this one is also likely to stay below that line.

Atlético to beat Mallorca & Under 3.5 (-118)

Champions Atlético are back in the title race after securing three wins and a draw from their last four league games.

They have been involved in a lot of uncharacteristically high-scoring games so far this season, but Simeone will be keen to see them return to their usual habit of grinding out narrow victories.

They beat Osasuna 1-0 in their last home match, and they picked up a 3-0 win against Betis in their previous game at Wanda Metropolitano Stadium.

Mallorca generally struggle on the road, so this looks like the perfect opportunity for Atlético to take all three points.

Real Madrid (+123)

Real Sociedad appear to be running out of steam. They soared to the top of the table after making a blistering start to the season, but they drew 0-0 with Valencia on Nov. 21 and then slumped to a 1-0 defeat against Espanyol last weekend.

They also lost 2-1 to Monaco in the Europa League, so confidence levels could be a little low in the camp.

That is certainly not the case for Real Madrid. Los Blancos are now seven points clear of Real Sociedad after enjoying a long winning streak.

They are unbeaten in their last four games against Sociedad, and they should have enough firepower and squad depth to edge this clash.
