While we have so many big names fighting for a Europa League quarter-finals spot, we will focus on a very close and engaging matchup with great entertainment potential. We’ve prepared a preview of the game for you, along with updated soccer odds and our UEL BANKER of the week.
Rangers vs. Slavia Prague
Thursday, March 18, 2021 – 04:00 PM EDT at Ibrox
Steven Gerrard took over in 2018 and he amazingly changed Ranger’s face, style, attitude… They already won their domestic title and now they are trying to do better than last season in Europa League. This term Gerrard and Co. won the domestic title, winning 28 games in 32 games. The clash at Ibrox is perfectly poised for another entertaining encounter with both teams being unbeaten in their domestic leagues. On top of that Rangers are unbeaten this season in Europa League.
Rangers scored an away goal and logically as the teams are balanced, they have the 1st chance to advance in the QFs. The hosts haven't played since the first leg so they will be well-rested and prepared for this one.
On the other side, Slavia Prague are no walkovers. The Romanian Nicolae Stanciu scored a superb goal in the 1st leg and his team played a great 1st half. Slavia have played a league game in between the 2 legs destroying their domestic opponent Mlada Boleslav 3-0 with Stanciu extending his brilliant form by scoring a brace. The bookies are giving him as favorite for the MVP of the match.
Despite the 2 teams not being the most efficient teams in Europa League, our bet is based on the importance of the match. The 2nd leg should be very exciting with Slavia fighting to score an away goal but not going all in from the 1st minute of the game. We don’t expect many goals, but we expect both teams to contribute on the scoreboard. Even a 1-1 draw is on the cards with extra-time and maybe penalties.
No matter who qualifies in the QFs, it will be a huge surprise and probably the end of the Europa League season for them as they will surely face a big name. That’s why both teams will give their best to arrive there. After knocking-out Leicester City in the previous round, you will say that Slavia have the 1st chance but after the form shown this season across all competitions, Rangers should go further.
Tough game for a banker? Might be but I know both teams very well as they both have one Romanian player in their squad. Ianis Hagi (Rangers), a very talented player with great potential, and Staciu (Slavia Prague), probably the best player in their squad.
Don’t underestimate Slavia in this double-legged game. They are priced at +140 to qualify further and that great value bet. Leicester were not their 1st huge upset in this competition. Let’s not forget the 6-5 win on aggregate against Sevilla in 2019 in the same stage of the competition. The experience is on Slavia’s side, the determination is on both sides.
