Slovakia vs. Spain

Wednesday, June 23, 2021 – 12:00 PM EDT at Estadio Olimpico de Sevilla

  • Spain are undefeated in their previous seven games in all competitions
  • Spain hasn’t lost in 30 of their last 35 away fixtures in all competitions
  • Spain fixtures have seen under 2.5 goals scored in their previous three Euro appearances

Spain’s Final Chance to Qualify

After two lacklustre opening fixtures for Spain and just two points on the board, they are now faced with earning all 3 points during their final Euro group fixture to stand a chance in qualifying into the final 16.

Spain’s initial opening fixture was an abysmal performance that ended in a 0-0 draw against Sweden. Their creativeness in the final third severely lacked star power, and these problems extended into their second matchday versus Poland.

Holding the ball isn’t Spain’s problem, as we witnessed an 85% possession during the Sweden encounter. However, the pre-tournament Group E favourites are now in a position where nothing less than a win is required to progress in the tournament. Their inability to win a game is concerning, but Luis Enrique should find solace in knowing the final group stage matchday is against one of the biggest one of the tournaments biggest underdogs.

Slovakia is in an unexpected position heading into the final game of the Euro 2021 group stages. Sat in second place with 3 points; a draw is all that’s needed for Pavel Hapal’s men to reach the qualifying stages. An unlikely win against Poland has put Slovakia in this position, but their efforts could fall flat against a Spanish side desperate for points.

Final Thoughts| Euro 2020 Betting Tips

Making a prediction on which team will be victorious seems risky; if Spain’s lack of goal-scoring prowess continues, then bettors would look foolish relying on Spain to win just because. We have to take notice of the current form when placing our wagers, and although I anticipate Spain will capture their qualifying needs, the totals market seems to like the more desirable market to approach.

A high-scoring game is probably off the cards; when looking at Spain’s previous thirteen fixtures, we notice nine of those games have produced under 2.5 goals. And in three of Spain’s last four games, the under 2.5 has also hit.

Germany vs. Hungary

Wednesday, June 23, 2021 - 03:00 PM EDT at Olympiastadion

Can We Trust Germany Now?

An impressive 4-2 thrashing over Portugal sure did silence Germany’s critics, but as the pressure mounts for the unqualified German squad, can they provide another convincing win to qualify from Group F?

Through Joachim Low’s 1-0 loss to France and bounce-back victory against Portugal, one statistic remained strong; the possession his Germany squad dominated should be positive. Despite their mixed success, this squad should not be overlooked, and Low’s men will be confident in taking all three points from the Hungarians.

With Hungary managing to hold the World Champions France to a 1-1 draw, they should keep some confidence of their own. When you delve into the statistics, it reveals a team that can don’t find much success. Hungary has lost just one fixture from their previous twelve outings on the brighter side, proving their defence is up to scratch.

Final Thoughts| Euro 2020 betting tips

Again, placing wagers against the moneyline is not something that interests me heading into the final matchday. But the totals market seems to provide a lot of value, especially with Germany coming off the back of a high scoring affair.

The statistics point towards a low scoring encounter, and given the fact that both teams are still fighting for a possession in the final-16, it would not be a surprise for defences to tighten up.

Germany vs. Hungary Score Prediction: Germany 2 – Hungary 0
