After an exciting first leg of the quarterfinals, four matches remain to see who can make the semifinals. Here are our top Champions League picks for the second leg of the quarterfinals.

None of the four quarterfinal ties are definitively decided heading into the second leg, although two are on a knife's edge. Villarreal pulled off the upset against Bayern Munich at the El Madrigal, and Manchester City suffocated Atletico Madrid to the tune of a narrow 1-0 win.

We'll examine the second leg of both matchups, and the other two that are sure to build on the excitement of last week.

Here are my top Champions League quarterfinal picks and predictions (odds via FanDuel Sportsbook and BetMGM; Pick confidence is based on a 1-to-5-star scale).

Champions League Predictions

Bayern to win and both teams to score (+150)

Previously, we were very bullish on Bayern winning away from home in a convincing fashion. But we overlooked one aspect: Villarreal manager Unai Emery's ability to conjure up magic during knockout competitions.

Emery was the manager in Sevilla when they won an unprecedented three straight Europa League titles, and he also won the Europa League in 2020-21 with Villarreal. He reached the Europa League final with Arsenal in 2019, too. And although he was the manager of PSG when they famously blew their lead over Barcelona in the 2017 Champions League, Emery won every domestic knockout competition in France multiple times.

It's still tough to go against Bayern at home though. They were in a similar position against RB Salzburg after the first leg before earning a six-goal win, plus the club won the possession and xG battles in the first leg against Villarreal. Bayern is still also a top-rated xG team across Europe's top-five leagues.

Take Bayern to win, and trust Emery to find a way to get his team into the contest.

Real Madrid-Chelsea both teams to score + Benzema to score (+180)

Let's once again back goals in the second leg of this tie between two European giants.

Real Madrid put two past Getafe over the weekend, who actually boast a strong xGA in La Liga (seventh). Meanwhile, Chelsea are fresh off a 6-0 drubbing of Southampton on Saturday, so the likes of Timo Werner and Kai Havertz will be full of confidence heading into the Santiago Bernabeu.

Both teams are still in the top three of their domestic leagues in xG, with Real leading La Liga. The elimination of the away goals rule has been leading to games with more scoring and chances throughout the knockout round. As a result, both teams will likely feel the need to be more adventurous.

Tack on Benzema to score, adding some serious juice to this play. La Liga's top goalscorer notched a hat trick during the 3-1 reverse fixture, and he did the same at the Bernabeu against PSG on March 9. Getting him at +110 is practically stealing money.

City to win and Over 1.5 goals (+108)

City smothered Atleti in the first leg, as expected. Atleti didn't register a shot on target and finished with only 29% possession, with City completing over twice as many passes. But City still only scored a single goal, which means this tie remains up for grabs.

Both teams will feel the need to score while seeking a secure position, and this will be a more wide-open game than most expect. Atletico have earned the fourth-best xG this season in La Liga, while City are second behind high-flying Liverpool. City are the deserving favorites too after winning five of their last six away from home across all competitions.

City's individual brilliance will shine through, and Atletico will be forced to come out of their shell.

Liverpool to win and Over 3.5 goals (+127)

Liverpool took care of business against Benfica in Lisbon on Tuesday, winning 3-1 and predictably taking the xG battle too. While it's tempting to go Under on goals as Liverpool doesn't need to win the second leg, Benfica aren't on the same level as Inter, who earned a 1-0 result during the second leg at Anfield on March 8. Inter are still in the title race in Serie A, while Benfica are 15 points off the top in Primeira Liga.

It's also not in the Reds' nature to sit back, concede possession, and grind out results. Even in 1-0 outcomes against West Ham and Inter, Liverpool still won the possession and shot battles.

However, both Benfica and Liverpool boast goalscoring ability. Benfica put three past Belenenses on Saturday, extending a streak of scoring at least a goal that started way back on Dec. 30. And Liverpool just scored two goals against City, Europe's best defensive team. The Reds are also first and second in the Premier League in xG and goals scored, respectively. They've posted Europe's second-best xG rate behind only Bayern.

The high-flying Reds and Benfica should produce fireworks at Anfield, and Liverpool will also win.
