All or nothing for the Bundesliga last two rounds. In the previous fixture, there was kind of a revolution, although not exactly unexpected, as Borussia Dortmund overtook Eintracht Frankfurt at 4th place, and Hertha Berlin recovered their games flying away from the relegation zone. So the best picks of the week are given by games that normally would be overlooked: Arminia vs. Hoffenheim, Gladbach v.s Stuttgart, Hertha vs. Koln.
Arminia Bielefeld vs. Hoffenheim
Saturday, May 15, 2021 – 09:30 AM EDT at Schuco Arena
The fear factor is all that counts. Arminia Bielefeld slipped on the third-from-the-bottom spot, the one that sends them to play-out, after Hertha climbing positions thanks to the game they had in hand, It's a psychological barrier that position, anyway at +2 over direct relegation, and something is particularly distressing Arminia, as they are coming from a fantastic streak that fuelled their hope, but still, they are there in the mud.
Arminia lost only 1 in the last 6 games, their best streak in 12 years in Bundesliga, which tells also how hyped they were for this comeback. Holding Hertha last week was better than nothing, but it was all in all a direct clash, and they lost none of those lately. Hoffenheim are done with their season, equally same distant from relegation and the European competitions, and it's true that they are unbeaten in the last 5 games - which is their best streak since September - but eventually, their rivals had a debatable motivation.
The odds on Arminia are fantastic and it's pretty weird considering not only what both are fighting (or not) for, but also that Arminia have clearly improved.
Gladbach vs. Stuttgart
Saturday, May 15, 2021 - 09:30 AM EDT at Borussia-Park
It is supposed to be a direct clash for the Conference League spot. Although Gladbach, the last to qualify at the moment, are in 7th place, the last good one, while Stuttgart are -4 and having Union Berlin and Freiburg in between, which makes it honestly hard to believe they could overtake three in only 2 games. Gladbach have been totally destroyed by Bayern Munich in their title crowning game, but that 6-0 tells more about Munich that played at full throttle to honor the crowning and demonstrate that they were out of the Champions only by mistake.
In fact, previously Gladbach were in good form, with only 1 defeat in 6 games, including a shocking 4-0 to Eintracht. Instead, Stuttgart finally won a game, but it was against Augsburg and after 4 defeats in a row that totally turned off any of their Champions League ambitions. The approach into the game and their recent form seem to endorse a Gladbach much more motivated, and so the odds do too.
Hertha Berlin vs. FC Koln
Saturday, May 15, 2021 - 09:30 AM EDT at Olympiastadion
Fire to the fire. Hertha escaped at +3 over relegation zone and now got their destiny fully on their hands, while Koln are trembling as second-from-the-bottom, -2 from permanence. Hertha are coming from 7 unbeaten games in a row, but before collapsing at home against Freiburg also Koln were boosting their hopes as they had beaten RB Leipzig and won in Augsburg in a play-out game.
In 4 out of the last 5 games, Koln have registered a combo 'both teams scoring+over 2.5 goals', and everything points at this repeating again, because the game will be as desperate as it can be, considering that losing would mean almost certain relegation for Koln, but actually even a draw could already sentence them if they will be particularly unlucky. Both defenses are average, Koln are less solid but with more firepower.
